Interesting, never knew the cross over of the bass ideas.
'Face Up' is not real slap bass, it's programmed! The live version of 'Face Up' sounds so much better than the album one.
First I've heard of these tracks, nice one, they're brilliant!!
Might have to play the Hybrid version on my next show now.

Seriously though, the Hybrid stuff is well worth checking out. I gave the "I Choose Noise" album from 2006 (featuring Hooky on two tracks) a spin this afternoon for the first time in a year or two and it still sounds epic. The earlier collaborations on singles "True To Form" and "Higher Than A Skyscraper" plus their respective remixes are also well worth hearing.
Possibly the best collaboration outside of New Order Hooky did with anyone bar Pottsy.
Yeah I've bought the album [from iTunes though, the CD's all seem to be £20+!!!] on the strength of these tracks, giving it a spin first time as I type.

I'm confused by the Hybrid song and the Perry Farrell song - Is Hooky selling the same bass line to different people?

Besides the producer credit Hooky didn't co-write "Elephant Stone" and didn't play on it so how can it be one of his best non-NO collaborations if we can't hear his bass or songwriting? The riffs he contributed to some of Hybrid's work as well as the sheer catalogue of really good tracks he wrote with Pottsy from '90 to '99 easily outstrip a producer credit from '89.
In my opinion anyway.
