Leaving it a little late now if they're genuinely doing anything over here before Xmas?
I'm guessing there's no UK 'tour' as such and maybe just London / Manchester only for now?
Also, still only the one date in South America. I appreciate it's a festival and a doubtless money-spinner but still seems a long way to travel for just one show?
Is DJ Tin Tin's tour schedule up online anywhere?

Agreed, There are only eight Tuesday nights before Christmas !!
IF and it's completely an if, it was a double O2 header as Manc Apollo and Brixton Ac, then the only space in their December schedule for 2 gigs within 2-3 days is between 12th-15th December.

there was some gossip about a show in Chile but so far no news about it. Rio is just 1 month away so I boubt there will be more shows in South America.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just did the occasional gig here and there. Not only does that let them dodge the dreaded touring, it drives up the value of the tickets quite a bit if a gig is an event that doesn't happen very often.
Maybe they're trying to synchronise it with the release of the new album so there's bit of planning to do there.

They'll play more than one gig over there. Just seems to be cutting it fine in announcing others (although I guess the UMF promoters do demand a period of exclusivity to get their tickets sold first)
They maybe holding back to coincide with Hookys next announcement thus capitalising on all the thunder-stealing potential it would have.

I think it's refreshing to be honest, returning to the quieter mystique of the 80s and getting out of this bad habit of telling absolutely everything warts'n'all to the press which never really occurred before 1998.

Maybe they haven't released a US tour because they need to make sure it coincides with an event in my life that keeps me from attending...

Was Hook the first to mention the Sirens follow up album? Bet that wasn't an authorised comment. Would have been better to have kept the lid on that too.

That's set up by the record label Rhino (part of Time Warner, a media conglomerate) and not the band. It goes with the territory of any band signed to any major label in the 21st century; you're gonna have a Facebook "Like" page whether you want it or not. It's part of promotion which even New Order did during the Factory years but in a more pre-Internet manner.
The original point stands that the "new" New Order have kept their cards very close to their chest, haven't given many interviews and generally maintained what some might call a dignified silence. Even that French interview Bernard did after the Paris gig was remarkably diplomatic.
All I was saying as a fan I prefer it when they just get on with it and make the odd special announcement now and then rather than pouring their unedited guts to the press or blogosphere at regular intervals about how much they hate each other.

The Internet has made music fans spoiled with information. We're now deeply disappointed if we don't know what our favourite musicians had for breakfast or what colour of socks they're wearing. I think that's been detrimental to a degree...

Marion are gigging in December, make of that what you will but either Phil C will be a very busy man or we won't see any other NO gigs until next year.

You can't help but think that. The more we see of Hook's 'personality' coming through the easier it is to understand how wearing he would be to spend a lot of time with. Doubt it's the only factor but it wouldn't help. With Hook always moaning about Bernard's lack of appetite for touring I wonder if he's realised that he's part of the problem? I suspect fucking not.

I remember gigs like the Woolwich Coronet being announced in the NME on the very week it was actually played! Gig was on the Thursday night as well, the very day the NME was generally made available
I never realised till I started work in the City you could actually get hold of the NME on Tuesday nights in the Capital so Londoners always got the drop on the rest of the country for gig news!
Different fanbase then though, wasn't it? Teenage market. You could announce gigs at 2mins notice and people would still show up. How many folk would attend a Woolwich-type gig tonight if they found out about it with 24hrs notice? Next to none, I should imagine, bar a few locals.

Indeed, I'll second all of the above, especially the London headstart with the NME hitting the news stands!
Morrissey's first solo gig on 22nd Dec 1988 was announced via the NME the day before and if I remember correctly the majority of people at the front of the queue were Londoners, which pissed the Mancs off no end!
One off London Gig - December 10th, tickets go on sale on Friday. No Hooky.

The mention of Woolwich Coronet brought back memories...
On the day of the gig I didn't know about it and I live up North between Manchester and Leeds. Went into town on the bus and read NME in WHSmiths - found out about gig!
Caught bus home got home at about 4:00pm. Threw some clothes in rucksack, rang then girlfirend who was living in London to get tickets, caught bus back into town, caught train (2 changes), met girlfriend at Kings Cross then caught train/tube?, plus 5/10 minute walk to venue.
Walked in venue, sat down, New Order came on.

Lol... was my first gig was the Coronet.. £4/4.50 to get in.. found out on the Weds in NME and got the 51 bus to the shithole that is Woolwich. Happy days.
Got the bootleg again off Pete recently and typical Barney sarcasm on it - 'We've never played this part of London before, can't think why'.
