This one just looks a bit, well ... shit.
I like the 1998 use of rolling over text to make it change to bold font instead. ![]()

whatever New Order do, theres always someone to moan -FACT!
Agreed it's very basic and looks like it was knocked up in two minutes but perhaps it'll grow in time. Or not. A rolling blog is probably the way to do it rather than a complicated Flash driven web site.
I think when they realised that even though New Order could reform, play two gigs, announce more gigs as well as Hooky give his well-documented response and none of it be reported on in NewOrderOnline News section they decided it was time to set up their own site. Don't blame them really.

wheres the "LIKE" button?
Looks as if it had been put together in a hurry?
Pic reminds me of Teletubbies for some reason
.
Always nice to see something fresh and New Order'y, but.....
I think NOOL would be treated the main resource for NO stuff by most people. NO would have been better off slipping the NOOL owners/moderators a couple of quid to make sure the site is updated with any "official" news, dates, images, links etc as-and-when required.

What amazes me is that it appears to have been there for two months already with no one any the wiser.
I'll keep an eye on that twitter account from now on. That's the way forward - the odd one-liner. "Oh, we're playing London, see you there" type thing.

Like it. Bout time they had an official website. Cuts through all the crap! Steve looks uncomfortable for a change.

I keep looking at the band picture and wondering why Bernards so angry at me.
Also, nothing says a New Order picture than at least one person not looking at the camera. Nice one Gillian.

Updating a website is a very time consuming process. You have to get things just right, get permissions to use photos and give credit where credit is due,its not just a case of copying and pasting stuff as you want to make the content your own,so to speak.
If you have any site that is coded entirely by hand then unless you are an absolute html code freak, then updating a html coded site is a fucking nightmare.
I am speaking from experience and a very long one at that, two years so far.
My webhosting package will have run out before i get my fookin site finished.
where was i?
Oh yes, just saying it isnt as easy as people think to update a webshite.

To be fair, fatherjack wasn't commenting on all that stuff, just suggesting NO and NOOL work together!
Waz wrote: To be fair, fatherjack wasn't commenting on all that stuff, just suggesting NO and NOOL work together!
It wouldn't work, NOOL is a runaway train without a driver at the moment. The news section is rarely updated and even when it is, it's usually weeks past the event it's reporting. It has been this way for some time. Probably part of the reason this new site exists is because the owner of NOOL is not responding to news requests sent by either Prime Management or Hooky's lot; they've both given up waiting for a response and so decided to start their own thing. I don't blame either of them to be honest.
The only real drawn left for this web site are the forums really; they are alive and kicking. You could literally do away with the rest of the site and leave the forums and no-one would bat an eyelid. I wouldn't, anyway.

Yep, just to be clear - no criticism of nool was intended and the work done to keep the site going is MASSIVELY appreciated. My point is that nool is a fantastic resource and that the new website seems a bit unnecessary given that this site has long been the main focal point for fans... Just thought it might make more sense for NO to communicate through NOOL instead of a separate channel.
father jack wrote: Just thought it might make more sense for NO to communicate through NOOL instead of a separate channel.
This site was basically down for a week either side of their first gigs in five years.
Probably not ideal for the band to use as a communication tool. ![]()

I think it's perfectly fine for http://www.newordernow.net/ to exist for official information and for this site to continue as a resource for rumours and "opinion".
I can't imagine New Order's management doing much to support this site when you consider some of the shit talking that's done in these forums.
Its probably nowt to do with the band but the logo/name isnt really at the same level of smug subtlety Ive come to associate with New Order.
New Order Now. Like, not then but now. Yeah, yeah we get it![]()

Masel and Ally asked for more control, but the site would need revamped and cost x amount of pounds and i don't think Nic wanted to go that way. Not sure what's happening....and that new website should be called NewOrderGetReadyv3.0.com.....Can you remember that old flash site? it was annoying as fuck having to scroll over every part of the screen trying to get info ![]()

also, this is from the new website, kind of funny
Following the well-documented departure of bass player Peter Hook, in Spring 2007,
New Order are now:
Stephen Morris (drums) Bernard Sumner (vocals, guitar) Gillian Gilbert (keyboard, guitar) Phil Cunningham (guitar, keyboards) Tom Chapman (bass)

Not only is the site gone, I can't even find any screencaps of it. If I recall correctly, it did link back here though.

I took the liberty of fixing your statement... just what number should the website be?
anyone else noticed the shop section on the new site?
£75 for a pair of converse low star knock offs?

That's Zazzle for you. Never knowingly undersold.
What about the 'colossal' "NewOrder30" print ... for a cool £213.10 notes? Frame extra. Ouch.
then add extra depending on what sort of paper you want it on the one they recommend not being available as an option...

Anyone notice the "NEW DATES - OLD FRIENDS - NEW ORDER" is the same text as David had up on worldinmotion a good two months ago?
Is he also behind this new site?! (He's not management that I'm aware of ... at least, not yet!)
Funnily enough their Facebook page still lists NOOL as the band's site. It also has The Light under likes/other interest though.
Also if you look at the bottom, it says that the site was designed by the studio Parris Wakefield. I don't think a fansite would be able to afford that.

I didn't know, that's why I asked. the truth is that all southamericans are waiting for an official voice about these concerts in Buenos Aires, São Paulo and Santiago (1-3-5 Dec). tickets are being sold at this moment so it'd be nice to have some sort of confirmation!

It reminds me a bit of the cover for the single Love Etc (PSB), but I know it's a different design in the end.

Both bits of text were put up on the same day - 5th September...
I would guess that Dave got the press release from the management?

I don't understand how it works in South America then.
When is a concert officially 'official'?
They're playing three dates in South America, that's all I know. And you've just listed all three dates above.
How do these three dates then become 'official'? Who has to confirm them for you? ![]()

Would be good to see a short message go up on NewOrderNow.net but they are official Almanso. I guess you want to hear it from someone official and not me!, but if it helps the band's management advised me of these SA gigs earlier on this week but BA wasn't quite confirmed then. They were expecting it to be sorted this week and if tickets are on sale then you should take that as a good sign!
The newordernow site is officially NOs and as Al said, they update it. I wouldn't read anything into other social media pages e.g.fb not being cross-matched, they probably have more pressing priorities at the moment.
http://www.newordernow.net/newordernow/2011/11/4/south-american-dates-confirmed.html
I totally understand Alejo. You see the official website mentioning London gig and not South America, you get a little suspicious.
So now there it is. They last ended down here, they are coming back here as well.
I almost think that this is NOT the last time they are playing South America.
Now we stand here waiting..........![]()
official confirmation... now I can be more relaxed ![]()
Al, the problem here is that you never know. I know here sometimes dates are announced just to measure the expectation or to see how many tickets do they sell before officially confirm the actual show. it wouldn't have been the first time a gig is announced and then mysteriously been cancelled. hope you get the picture ;)
