TEMPTATION... The best arrangement? What are your thoughts....

It may have knocked Glasgow '06 off as my favourite version... It's longer and more upbeat and therefore better!! In my opinion...

5-8-6... kicks the originals butt

BLUE MONDAY... On the other hand, has always been better in the studio recording.

TRUE FAITH... With the new intro I think it sounds really cool, and sounds less dated than the version played 1998 - 2006 with the early 90s house piano intro [though it does make an emergence half way through]

Best True Faith performance ever was during 93 Tour. A bit sad they did not play Ceremony those days, nah Al? :D

Nope, it's the strings from Krafty itself and not another NO song. It made me scratch my head too on first listen as the regular album/single versions have the keyboard strings buried a bit in the mix so you can't hear them as clearly.

If you own the Krafty CD singles then play the Phones Reality Remix and listen to the first 15 seconds. You'll hear what I mean, that's the intro they've used. The orchestral "flourish" is also more clearly heard on the Andy Green Remix.

I really like what they've done with the new intros, they work well.

True Faith now seems to be a megamix of both the Shep Pettibone "Morning Sun" remix from 1987 and Perfecto's 1994 effort which has been the standard live version since 1998. The drum machine pattern at the beginning is identical to the Pettibone mix.

My memory of Temptation is somewhat more hazy but it sounded to me at the time like they've sampled the 1982 version sequencer lines more faithfully so it sounds a great deal more authentic and closer to the original studio versions. The versions played between 1998-2006 sounded more modern by comparison.

Yeah you'd have to have cotton wool in your ears to think that the strings at the start of the new live Krafty are anything other than the strings from Krafty itself.Strings from All Day Long? :nuts: I like the new intro

Temptation, yeah i like it. "Street Hassle" start and what appears to be elements of the '82 12" in there as well. They should do a studio version of it and stick it on the end of WFTSC leftovers or summat

Those strings are from the middle section of the 12" Mix on the single.

True Faith meanwhile seems to take elements of the Pink Noise mix, the Morning Sun mix, the 98 Perfecto revamp, and, by the sounds of it, a new set of soft synths that sound very "Vanishing Point".

Suppose the thing to take from all this is that the creative juices are still flowing within the band and that's a good thing.

Hopefully they will be asked to do the Itunes festival next year so we could perhaps get a chance to get hold of some decent recordings/video HD of the revamped material. FIngers crossed.

Please don't do the iTunes Festival. Those gigs always have a bunch of clotheared numpties in the crowd who don't care who they're watching for a free night out, and would be equally bothered by Adele, The NumptyWumptyAtomicDustbuckets, or NooOrdah!

Yes I hear it. It's still a shit song while All Day Long is marvellous. Creative work though, at least they are revamping for the live shows.

If you have the Andy Green Remix handy which was on the Krafty UK CD2 single then fast forward to 2:37 and you will hear the same "string arpeggio" which is identical to what they're playing on this new live version.

I agree it sounds a hell of a lot like that bit at the end of All Day Long so maybe the band were unknowingly ripping themselves off when they wrote the Krafty keyboards back in 2004. That string arpeggio is also on the album version of Krafty but lowered a fair amount in the mix and so can be easily missed.

The Andy Green Remix emphasises it much more, PM me if you need a copy and I'll send it to you

Again it sounds very similar to the bit in All Day Long but I think they just turned up sections of the original Krafty keyboard multitrack rather than megamixing in a 1986 song live.

Strange fact- Radio 2 DJ Johnnie Walker is a massive fan of the Andy Green mix of Krafty. He without fail always plays it when he sits in on the Radio 2 breakfast show ( they have radio 2 on at work)

Yeah downloaded that Krafty arpeggio, Ally. It is similar to All Day Long, yer right that's what can be heard in Krafty intro live now?

From what I've heard for True Faith they actually constructed a brand new version based entirely on the Shep Pettibone mix, but decided it didn't have enough impact so just kept the intro from it and then reverted back to the old (98-06) version.

The only reason I hope they get offered it is so I can purchase a decent mix of the live performance and the HD Itune festival concerts on Itunes are excellent quality as I cant see Barney wanting to release anything live. It certainly beats the youtube quality

Best version of TEMPTATION was played live at the Tower Ballroom, Birmingham 1983 :)
