Yeah, Ive just purchased the CD and you get a free download of the mp3s. The mp3's are only encoded at 192k though. I trust they are higher quality for those who only purchase the digital copy.
Just had a quick look at the store. Who the fuck is going to buy Substance MP3 for 10 quid?!! CD must be £3 by now.
18 quid to listen again to something I already paid £37 to hear live. Hmm, I'll think about it...

I think the company is Abbey Road Live who were set up by EMI to record live shows and flog them, as you say.

Ok, so it's done in a mobile van, they do their seperate mix than front of house. Always better than SBD recordings, but a little on the unatmospheric side. Still, worth having.
Doves released one a couple of years back, the quality is soundboard.
I'll buy obviously buy this Troxy CD but torn as to whether to bother with the 11 quid MP3 download. I mean they should offer the MP3s for a fiver if you buy the physical CD. If you're buying the MP3s alone then yeah, 11 quid is reasonable.

Rather surprised Bernard OK'd a live disc so soon after the reformation. Live in Glasgow definitely featured a much rehabilitated voice after those shaky initial forays promoting WFTSC back in spring '05.
Ordered! Been a fan of theirs since I believe the same company did the DM past two tours, not always the best sounding but always good to have some new NO live material!
Ordered too, and DLed the mp3s....but does anyone else have a lengthy (more than a minute!) audio drop-out in Blue Monday? from around 1.17 until 2.20, theres total silence.
Whilst I can probably live without hearing BM again live, I hope the CD is better than this!

It's not a live album as such, it's just a recording of a live gig, as it happened warts and all, mixed on the fly. Some bands had every show of the tour for sale, get's a bit crazy (eg KISS, Simple Minds, Alice Cooper).
It will be just a CDR in standard digipac.

You have probably noticed there is a glitch in the track Blue Monday in the free download we sent you. Please accept our apologies. You can download the correct file from the link below then just find the faulty track on your computer delete it and drop this new one in the same place and all should be fine.

I got the CD. Happy I got a download to hold me over until the cd comes! Had no problems with Blue Monday.
I think this is a great idea. Even if it will make me go broke. Sounds much better then the fan recordings.
I hope they keep it up.

Listened to Brussels bootleg cd yesterday and confirm that Tom did a great job that evening indeed.
Actually i must say, if they'd have done the same thing with say some of the brixton gigs from 2002 it would have sounded a lot worse. Overall an enjoyable live recording, with a tad more passion than some of the other later NO gigs.
I do hope they mix up the set a bit when they tour properly. I know they won't but thats what was lacking from the later gigs, we knew exactly what was coming. I honestly think hooky will be back within a year or two, i just hope they ditch Phil if that happens. Lovely lad but its just not proper New Order!

Agree with the passion but on the set list piece, visitors to this site knew what was coming but probably 90% of the Troxy attendees didn't - likewise on a UK tour the majority of punters will have no idea what the set list will be and will no doubt be impressed if they continue with 586, age of consent and 1963. Just my view.

Cant see it going on itunes mysslf. Itunes doesnt pay enuff. They will probably make more money per cd/download through Abbey Road Live/Sandbag then Itunes. This recording has come from a 24track recording of the show so the sound quality is excellent!

The gig is too long to fit on a single CD. It makes perfect sense to split the encore from the main set.

Once i'd got over the relief that the recording wasn't made on a hand held recorder or a mobile phone on further listening Temptation is a bit... well not everything going on in the song stands out on its own, it clogs together into one big mush a bit. Still, glad to have the recording of the gig, can't complain

People are forgetting the fact that, it's just a gig on a 2CD, it's not really a live album. There is a big difference between the 2.
I would be VERY wary of ordering from Sandbag. The cover to mine is creased all over the place and the gatefold has that tell-tale imprint of the CD's where they have been rammed together and distorted the print. If I pay £20.50 for a CD I don't expect to look like it's been left in the back of a junk shop for a decade!
I've emailed Sandbag. Have some pictures of the damage, and please ignore the Vegemite in the photos. My partner likes it, it is a rotten condiment.

THESE ARE CDR'S, by the way. The writable side of the CD's are silver, so could fool you, but the giveaway is the production number printed on the CD inside rim.
I've emailed Sandbag, and hoepfully they will send me a replacement cover.

Was the jiffy bag damaged? If so, this could easily be Royal Mail's fault handling the package without due care. It does happen.
In any case I would just pop it back in the jiffy bag and send it back for a replacement. I'm sure they will be reasonable if you get in touch via email.

With all due respect, the provider of the photos did not give an explanation. My impression was that the packaging of the CD itself was shoddy. On the other hand, someone else complained about only receiving Disc 2. Either way, quality control is still an issue.

I have looked them up before on the net, and seen a lot of complaints about the products eg, cd missing, not playing, not getting their order. I think it's part and parcel of the company. Nothing to do with the bands of course.

With all due respect, the provider of the photos did not give an explanation. My impression was that the packaging of the CD itself was shoddy. On the other hand, someone else complained about only receiving Disc 2. Either way, quality control is still an issue.
I have looked them up before on the net, and seen a lot of complaints about the products eg, cd missing, not playing, not getting their order. I think it's part and parcel of the company. Nothing to do with the bands of course.
Except the band or their management chose to use that company.

Ordered mine on Dec 22 but I don't expect mine to arrive until feb, keep in mind the site says they ship in the first week of Jan and it is only Jan 5th today...factor in shipping from UK to Aus, perhaps emailing is a little premature?

To lighten the mood a little, me and 'er indoors are expecting brat MK1 in May this year. She's at the stage where she's waiting to feel the baby moving inside her, but until today nothing had happened.
I've been playing the Troxy CD non-stop in the car and Stephen Morris is the wife's favourite drummer of all time. She's just emailed me to tell me that she thinks she felt the baby move and said "it was like stephen morris doing the badum tisch! after one of barney's jokes".

Just putting this kind of sleeve in a jiffy bag isn't sufficient packaging, you need to put in cardboard stiffeners as well, otherwise it will more often than not be bent even from normal wear and tear by the post. I'm not really surprised though, LHN made several cock ups when posting the Depeche Mode live discs the other year. They usually send replacement sleeves without making a fuss though.

Got mine today, slight bit of creasing on the corner but nothing major. Both discs arrived, at least. Sounds lovely, except I would prefer if the (real) drums were crisper & louder!
Quite enjoy Barney's efforts at not saying the same thing at the start of each song - "Start the engine, Steve", "OK, go for it!" "Light the blue touchpaper", etc etc....and the slightly less imaginative "Start the drum machine, Steve"

Well, Sandbag finally answered the phone with "Send us a picture and we'll consider it." It's utter shit. They charged £20 for a CDR in a cardboard sleeve, rammed into a jiffy bag, creased to fuck, and looking like it's been sat at the bottom of a musty book shop bin for a year. What's so wrong with putting it between some protective cardboard or in a unbendable mailer? Or even in a regular plastic CD sleeve, so if it got broken, you could easily swap the contents out?
I don't mind them selling it in a crappy cardboard cover, I mind the cheap and rubbish jiffy bag and the creased cover, and the rubbish customer service I've had so far. I spent £20 on an ace sounding recording that looks like a piece of junk shop tat.

I think it's very unlikely there's no post gig mixing on the Troxy CD, and there is certainly editing. So basically because the Windsong CD omitted three songs it's a live album and the Troxy CD isn't?

Just to clarify the difference between these recordings that you buy after the show, and a proper live album.
For example, the BBC CD was recorded on multitrack, and mixed and edited in the studio some time later. These other CDR products that are the latest rage, are mixed live in a mobile van on the day, straight as the gig happened into the computer, together with the audience mics. So, it is as it is, mistakes, whistling, leads being plugged in etc etc.
You can buy alot of them, right atfer the gigs on usb. It's equal to a soundbaord recording, but with the audience mics mixed in for atmosphere.
That is utterly bizarre, that definition of a live album... what is a bootleg then? Not a real live album? You would prefer a fake "fixed up" live album, like Rush does? Bootlegs are much more interesting, one just hopes that the sound is halfway decent. This instant live CDs are just a way to make money off of something that would be bootlegged.
