I got fed up with Blue Monday years ago and the subsequent array of remixes didn't rekindle my love, pretty much all of them from 1995 were abysmal. However, on my YouTube travels I came across this and it's made me fall for BM all over again. It stays faithful to the original, but turns it on its head into something quite cheery and bright. Maybe not the original intention of the original track, but I like BM again. Check it aaahhht:

Pleasure, I love spending a couple hours on YouTube discovering new mixes and other curiosities. The cheery synth bit in this, I reckon I've heard elsewhere but can't for the life of me think where.

brilliant ambiance. i am pretty critical about remixes, tend to hate 99% of them, but this one has a beautiful feel to it.
and i could give a shit if someone already posted about it x months ago, cause i missed it then.

There was a hard, early trance version of Blue Monday that got some airplay in 1992-93. Really good, I've never come across it since, but I'll have a thorough look through the YouTube mp3s one day. :)
Debaser, the DJ ThUg version is very easy to listen to. Not conservative house, but something more substantial. Enjoyed it!

Well dj Thug uploaded it, but it's not his mix. The guys who did it released a series of Vinyl bootlegs which HMV were only too happy to stock. All under the "avenue" or "street" monikers, as per THIS and THIS
Incidentally the "hard" mix I remember from 1992 was more like a blatant "Prodigy does New Order" mix. And interestingly the label credited on the youtube video is London records. I'm thinking of Electrosets "How does it feel", complete with a great piss-take of the BM '88 dog in the video HERE Full length 12" version HERE
i'm pretty sure there are thousands of mixes we could dig up.. (just like underworld's 'born slippy.nuxx').

My favorite non-original version of Blue Monday is not a remix but the cover by Orgy back in the 1990's. My favorite New Order version of Blue Monday is the BBC 1984 version you can find here:

I must say though that it is far better than most Prodigy tracks.

Anyway, I like this new remix, the differences are subtle yet totally transform a dark, almost gothic dance track into cheery Italo-disco. Nice. :)
