This is what I'm expecting and is why I doubt I'll buy it.

I enjoyed his Hac book but things have changed since then.

I didn't bother with that Hac book till about a year after it came out and then devoured it in one sitting, so I'm looking forward to this one. I'm not even that fussed about JD, per se, but I do admire Hooky's eye for an anecdote.

Just hope the recent shenanigans don't tinge the content somewhat and give a lop-sided view to proceedings.

One way or another that's come from him. Either he's instructed the publisher to write that (this would include his manager/literary agent doing it with his approval) or someone's written it having read the book and that's how the content reads. With the level of control freakery and ego mania he's displaying, it could be considered overly generous to give him the benefit of the doubt on these things.

I'll borrow someone's, just to have a laugh at the delusional lies, not giving him any money.

honest to god, the levels some people will go to to get their cherished digs in on here

for all you know, some kid on their first day of work experience with absolutely no knowledge of the band or the book or even the person could have written that but yeah if it makes for a better story then he clearly rang up the publishers and dictated that whole paragraph himself word for word, to further his own diabolical needs :\ohwell:

I wouldn't exactly call him one of the most sought after DJ's in the world, or the inspiration behind Joy Division. That seems a bit "big up your bad self" about things.

If you think about it though, he probably is.

Think about how many local, cash in hand, third saturday night of the month down the local doing a bit of karaoke, and doing the occasional Birthday, Wedding and Bar Mitzvah for £50. On that basis, Hooky is one of the most sought after DJ's in the world.

id imagine the main inspiration if you can call it that, is that hooky was the flash arsehole in the band instead of traditionally the lead guitarist. Nothing wrong with that because his way of playing was original and innovative and no one could touch him in terms of how he played. Ive often heard that others in the band have said that hooky would have loved to have been the singer as well.

i liked his book on the hacienda but i read it before all the shite about the rest of the band became public so i dont think ill buy this.

I will buy it: it'll be my first Joy Division book.

I read his Hacienda book but I could not relate to it: I could not physically witness the Manchester club scene of the late 80s.

Dont know why everyone should get upset about what Hooky might say or slant cos of recent events, this is a story over 30 years old,well documented. when they were young and idealistic and that should come across, put yer money in yer pockets.Hope he does a booky tour as well, would love him to play the Bass from twenty four hours.
