JD/NO master tapes found?

Er, and no more remasters please. We've all paid enough since that particular gravy train started up in 2007. Not to mention the screw ups.
If the tapes contain unreleased versions/takes however....
Looks like old news to me.

And it turns out, he put it in this vault to protect it [laughs] from the official receiver, I think. What happened was that the bank lost the record and didn't bill us for this vault. So when Rob died, he took the memory of the vault with him and nobody knew it existed.Very recently, the lease has come up on the building, so the bank has had to move. So they had to track down the people who had these vaults, then realized that they hadn't been billing anybody, so they let us all off, which was quite nice. But we got our hands back on all this wonderful stuff which we thought had disappeared-- like a full stereo recording of the Tenth Summer Festival that we did with the Smiths. We were told those tapes had been destroyed!There were about 200 New Order live tapes of mine that had been in storage since 1990 that I had forgotten about. I even found the original master tapes of [Joy Division's debut EP] An Ideal for Living. It's freaky, you know? To get your hands on that after all those years and see your writing on them is unbelievable. The thing is, we don't know what the hell to do with it [laughs]. But it was wonderful to get it back.?"
Oliver using the "news" to his advantage maybe?
May be wrong, but I seem to remember Hooky circa 2007 saying he'd taped every gig he ever did and wanted to get some stuff out on MySpace. Hence Reaction. Love the way the article says 'According to The Sun...'!

Well the article appeared in todays Sun and then other news media picked up on it (i.e nicked it) i think.
I was gong to start a thread on this (except i can't access NOOL at work) and call it Unknown Treasures 
Was hoping it might be those missing masters for the 12" singles that had to be ripped from Vinyl for the Factory album re-issues, but the Pitchfork thing apears to suggest otherwise.
I agree with the suggestion above though -if Hooky doesn't know what to do with em, stick em on the internet.

What's your problem? If he's the one who arranged to have the gig recorded and/or kept the tapes afterwards, he's certainly entitled to refer to the tapes as "his", regardless of who played on them.
I wonder if they found any video tapes because I remember seeing New Order being filmed professionally at the Festival Of The Tenth Summer but I've never seen any footage

Isn't this the stuff that ended up at MDMA years ago, lot's of New Order live tapes, photos, was all in storage?

Rob did have tapes of every gig,dont expect them to see the light of day anytime soon though.

I think some (not you, NotAMod) are getting their hopes too high. While it's nice for something lost to be found, it's probably not going to be earth-shattering.

I agree, so not sure why Hooky thinks their his. But their again he did sneak off with the Hacienda rights as well, so not suprised.

I think this clip was from that gig mate so at least some of it was filmed.

Its good they've found the tape but aside from this 'discovery' lets not forget that Jamie Oliver is one massive CUNT!!

Thanks I had seen that on YouTube but didn't think it was from the Tenth Summer but realised it is. I think judging by the colour that, that is from Jap TV I doubt if they filmed the whole day. I remember seeing lots of it being filmed except for the Smiths so god knows where it is it it ain't in the vaults! I didn't think it was from the gig because the stage looked too small and found this photo to show that the stage was quite small it was just the place that was huge! Apart from the famous one from the Smiths Rank its amazing how few photos there are of that day.
Hooky didn't sneak off with the hacienda and the tapes are his as he is new order. If degradation hasn't taken it's piece of whatever has been found, stick whatever is salvageable on the web (with the bass turned up!) before I get fatter,balder,greyer and die. Something for the grand kids to watch, listen, dance, snog to..
