who is a better ,or more interesting bass player? maybe there is a thread already. bill wyman, p. mc cartney, j. entwhistle, j.mcvie, les pattison,roger de pink, j.p. jones come to mind , but none really made me stand up and cheer for their prowess. there is a jazz guy, jaco pastorius, that was incredible. hendrix 's was noel redding, and he was likeable , as were all these guys. i like jack bruce very much ,but more for the vocals and the writing of some of the songs of cream. the doors didn't have a bassist. i am omitting plenty of phenomenons i bet . so, it seems as to me that peter hook is the one. and he should be extra appreciated . also, sting and adam clayton are too much i don't know why i mentioned them. are there any other bassists out there that are as spectacular as hook? i say nope.
