It's not a lack of support for TMW; it's just a feeling that LMA is MUCH better. There's plenty of good stuff on GR: Vicious Streak, Close Range...
TMW truly outstanding, I can accept it's my opinion and not others. I'm surprised, that's all.
what you should have done was take TMW and put it up against another MIDDLE OF THE ROAD song with some fucking wanker ruining the entire vibe like......hmmmmm.....thankfully NewOrder didn't SELL OUT and use phonie rock stars to try to boost album sales in the past but any of their Half-Assed efforts would have spawned more cheers for TMW...try TMW vs. Sub-Culture 12"....what do they have in common?.....the annoying sound of a high-pitched BITCH needlessly tossed in the mix....

Well, I still believe Turn My Way is the best song on Get Ready, and I'm sure this won't change over time, since I heard that song the first time, I've played it so many times, I never got bored, I still sing to it.
Something that might help, I like Billy Corgan..
I'm still convinced this song would have been a hit single if released in the US, but I now know there are idiots in record labels who prefer to release Britney's 6th single over a decent track of one of UK's best band.
I just can't see why that happened, unless Mr Corgan asked them not to release it..
It sounded horrible live I must admit though..
Leave me Alone is, with Your Silent Face, my best song on PCL.. comparing them is like apple and oranges.. You can't compare a song from 1983 and 2001. I'm quite sure Leave Me Alone would sound a lot better if they would re-record it.
But that's the type of songs New Order didn't do much, they are both quite good songs.. the music on both is simply amazing...
Well, everyone has a favorite on this album, so go figure..
I like Primitive Notion, but IMHO, it's not ahead of Turn My Way and Crystal.. and there would be a debate in my head to find what's next!
But well, that's a good thing, most album these days have 50% (if not more) of crap, even for fans.. so if people find that Rock The Shack is the worst song on the album, this means it's a very good album!

I like both TMW and LMA but for different reasons.
TMW works really well with MALE harmonies for once, instead of some over-polished 'gospel' style backing vocal, as in 'Subculture', 'State Of The Nation' etc.
LMA works so well within the context of PC&L, as it's N.O. stripped down (urrggghhh, what a thought!) to the bare minimum - makes them all, especially Barney, seem really vulnerable and well, erm, alone.
I think TMW will be a track that we (even those who don't seem to like it at the moment) will all look back on fondly in years to come.
I can safely say that I will never ever like Turn My Way. More like Turn My Stomach to these ears. It just isn't what New Order sound like to me!
How can you don't like Hooky's bass on that song? Plus the melody is quite good.
Ah well, fortunatly for New Order, their fans have different tastes, but I must admit, looking back, Get Ready is a very good album that I never got bored of listening...

Which bit of New Order's bass, drums, guitars and singing on TMW doesn't sound like New Order?
The overall feel. I must admit that Corgan doesn't help, it would be marginally acceptable without his whining girly Alan Ball on helium tones.
Primitive Notion is the best song on the album, definitely. Rock the Shack is probably the worst song they've ever done.

I doubt the RTS debate will ever go quietly.
I guess some people like TMW and some don't. Personally it is the atmosphere of the song I like, to me it's perfect NO - them at their most vulnerable and honest.
Jarvo Crystal kicks a great many backsides but there is always a place for slower numbers provided the intensity is as active.

I absolutely love RTS... TMW...not a bad song at all...
but that's my opinion...and we all know the story about opinions...right???
Personally, I think the mark of TMW's greatness is the fact that you barely notice the loathesome Corgan's presence at all. I think it's wonderful, and why it wasn't the second single instead of 60MPH I'll never know.
Dont' want to sound too clichéd here but I think that one of the most fascinating things with New Order (and with good music in general) is how their most devoted fans can love them, and their songs, for a so great variety of reasons.
In fact, it would be very difficult to name NO's best songs. What I could do is name the songs that speak the louder to me.
Although I love Leave Me Alone for instance, and understand the ol' Huntsmate point of view, it's not up there with my all time favorites.
I guess it has to do with your very inner self, something you can't really discuss, although IT IS interesting to discuss...

Turn My Way should've been a single here stateside, Corgan's appearance would have boosted it in the alternative charts at least. Great missed oppertunity, you wankers at London/Warners
