Change My View

Their seems to be a close connection between GR's 'Touch My Feet ' and 'Bake Me A Cake' from PC&L. The latter was by far my personal favourite NO song of all time (a bold statement indeed), but TMW is praying on my mind like a pigeon nibbling at seeds thrown onto the floor like discarded rubbish. I can no longer declare LMA as my outstanding choice, as TMW is as good ... if not better!

Both songs are stripped down to the bare bones: Barney without effects, simple melodic guitar riffs, unassuming yet powerful drum patterns, a strong and unnerving lyric, and of course, a Hooky line to hang your socks on. Both songs are, in essence, simple and beautiful pieces of music. After the debacle that was The Republican I never envisaged they would engage in another song similar to work from 1983, but they have embarked and indeed released such things again. (Incidentally, Mr. Disco's verse melody is also in the outstanding category for much beautiful vocal on a NO record).

Is anyone else under this spell, has anyone else, turned this way? - or am I very much alone in this opini-onion, best left very much alone?

He seems to have caused much consternation to the United States members, if you like, he seems to be their answer to Robbie Williams in the naff stakes ... but for me even Brian Corkscrew adds a vital ingredient to the powerful potion.

I think Frodo would prefer songs from PC&L but only because his ears are too hairy. i.e. he (it / a rabbit) is unable to decipher correct frequencies and thus guesses most of his (her / the) music as stored on his (animal) homemade bookshelf located at the rear of the (his/her/its) hutch.

Leave Me Alone wins in a landslide victory over Turn My Way. We will have to weigh these two against each other 15 years from now and see in TMW can stand the test of time - Leave Me Alone has stood the test and come through with an A.

Turd Ma Wey is fookin' shite of the worst Balti variety, and should never ever be considered as worthy of being played on the same guitars as Lend Me A Fiver.

There are SO few NO songs that I think are worthless. Turn My Way is cool, but it won't hold water over the test of time. It doesn't mean that I don't like it.

From my very humble point of view, TMY is a classic. It even makes Cuntcorgan's voice listenable, wich is no small feat!

So there's me and George on this one? - I'm happy that so many LMA fans of emerged but the joy is tinged with sadness. So many negative comments on TMW.

Well, H, after head-to-head listens, I'm afraid I remain where I was yesterday; Trim My Beard is a good song, but Leave Me A Lone Wolf is in an entirely different class.

I agree that the shiver test is the absolute best way to judge; Leave My Lean-To gives me shivers from beginning to end every time. Trim My Nails gives me maybe one every other listen.

There's always room to move Disco - logically and laterally.

Are you a follower of your namesake? - verse is superb. Never got away with the chorus which is a shame as the synth parts are excellent.

Mr Dancing Feet has always been a close personal favourite of mine as has the aforementioned Proto-Sessional Session.

I've always wondered why the Holiday Programme don't use Master Dancing Horse as a theme tune as it expertly advertises favourite vacation destinations.

No I'm not sure about the central theme anymore. I'm quite taken back by the staggering lack of support for TMW, especially after much declarations of wonderment upon the release of GR.

I'd say TMW ranks alongside LMA and Mr. Discount + Procession and Day Dreamer now. The choice wasn't mine, it was made for me by NO intake alone. I'm never swayed ... especially by popular opinion.

Disco - Mr. Discount is a very sad song so I can't see the holiday people rushing to include it on the credits of their shows?

Not even with Gloria Hunniford gyrating in the background?
