Looks like all the band members have taken turns to give individual interviews recently - Come on Phil you're the odd one out!
Plus another promising comment from Gillian about returning to the studio.

But as to the future and another album? New Order long-players have often been blood-from-a-stone affairs and Gilbert says as always with this band, they aren't making any plans. "It would be nice to let the dust settle from playing live and be inspired again before going into the studio."

That says a lot. 'Let's just piss Hooky off and fool people by pretending to be New Order' How does that solve anything? Fans are not stupid, it's obvious that they can't write stuff with the same quality as before without Hooky, so gigging for a few months is not a proper reunion.

You seem to ignore the fact that many quality songs are driven by Hooky's bassline. Try and imagine Face Up, Temptation, Broken Promise, Regret, Age of Consent, Sooner Than You Think and Crystal without Hooky's bass

You do realise that the "fans who are not stupid" have been voting with their feet regarding this issue? Brussels, Paris, London Troxy and the first nights of the upcoming UK tour all sold out in a pretty impressive space of time. The debate on this seems to be over. If they had come back as New Order and tanked, the venues would be half-empty and these forums would be full of negative reviews.
I also think Hooky was an extremely important part of New Order (keyword: was) but by his own admission doesn't want to be in the band any more.
They can't write stuff without Hooky? The 3 Electronic albums, the Bad Lieutenant LP, and the 2 Other Two records prove you to be full of hokum.
If you care to think back, a lot of their past glory from a song writing perspective was when Gillian was active in the band. May be she influenced the sound more than the guy who went bong bong on the bass? And now that she's back it may happen again we should also remember that Tom is a young fella and may bring some renewed energy to the process.
BTW i'm getting fed up with pretending to be New Order shit if you feel that way, fuck off to the real New Order site. Oh hang on, there isn't one!

They can obviously all write good music, and have all succesfully proven it, I can't see why there has to be such a scrap over this, I'll gladly go and see new order as they are now (if someone will reply to their PM & sell me a bloody ticket!) as well as see Hooky, I'm not voting for one or the other, they can co-exist. I'd prefer them to be back together though, as I personally feel they write their best music when they are all together, and for me, if any new New Order material doesn't have the trade mark Hooky sound on it it'll not feel like the New Order I know and love, but more like Electronic/BL or TOT.

They did indeed, though I should point out that even this isn't the original, it's a remix. I couldn't find the original on youtube. As for the Dr Who theme, well it is Corvin Dalek (geddit?). And can't argue with Jed, the NO version is better.

Crystal still has a good melody---it works both as a dance song and as a pop/rock song.
