The New Order Cup 2012 — Forum Archive

Been quite a while since everyone had a chance to vote on their favourite tracks, and there's been a fair few new converts since the last cup in about 2004, so here you go. I've divvied the 112 New Order songs up (randomly) into 16 groups of 7. You get to vote for your favourite song in each group of 7, and the top two go forward to the last 32, where it's a knockout 1 v 1. Bit like the Champions League and all that.

Groups will be put up as polls in a minute. One vote per group. Can Ceremony or Perfect Kiss topple Temptation?

Draw made by Emma using numbers 1-32 drawn out of velvet bag in time honoured fashion. Numbers allocated in Group order, i.e. qualifiers from Group A were no.1 and 2 (winner being 1, runner up 2)

Is that it to the final now? i.e. winner of tie 1 plays winner of tie 2 and the winner of that plays the winner of 3 vs 4, etc?

Or are you gonna redraw after each round?

FA Cup stylee, random draw. Tie numbers will be as above though, so the Temptation/BLT winner will be No.1 in the hat.

1 track from "Movement" 4 tracks from "Power, Corruption & Lies" 5 tracks from "Low-Life" 3 tracks from "Brotherhood" 4 tracks from "Technique" 1 track from "Republic" 1 track from "Get Ready" 2 tracks from "Waiting for the Sirens Call" 11 non-album tracks

Interesting choice of songs, but not really surprising. 1/3 of the tracks came from singles (or their B-sides). "Low-Life" is the album with most tracks qualified, closely followed by "Power, Corruption & Lies" and "Technique".

One really predictable result so far with Ceremony's win, and Temptation's success predictable but a bit more substantial than I anticpated. Close one for Everything's Gone Green, and for me the shock of the round so far with All The Way pissing it over Face Up.

I did lock the threads, which is why you can't add a comment. As they are polls rather than threads as such though, Nicos forgot the bit of code that stops you voting after the thread is locked.
