Hooky described how he was crying when post-mixing and fixing the Reading show for broadcast as, at the time, he thought "Nobody will ever hear these songs live again."

Nice to hear recollections of the Oxford gig.

I think the bootleg I have is from the mixer as the crowd is very quiet on it...

Although that doesn't appear to have been the experience of those who were there!

Only ever heard one audience source of this one, huge overblown sound that summed it up, couldn't hear a word Bernard was saying.

Had a bit of Atlanta 89 on in the car on the way home, cracking Mr Disco. Actually looking forward to the other side of the tape in the morning!

Just listened to Hurt from the Vienna 1984 broadcast and thought that it was the best performance of it that I ever heard.

Really love the second time they played Sooner Than You Think, Volkhaus 84, especially the drums at the beginning.

Ultraviolence is another fave of mine fromj that gig too.

What about that Fox Theatre gig where both Gillian and Hooky fuck up Chosen Time. Barney's vocals were ace on it.

Turned out that was Perth 15/5/85 not Atlanta Fox Theatre, we got the wrong gig from the box. Atlanta has never surfaced.

Played Atlanta 89 twice over the last couple of days, enjoyable gig. Way better than the tape filler, which has reminded me just how shit The Beloved were most of the time!

What I do remember is Mac singing the words "Ceremony...Ceremony". I swear it was during the actual song Ceremony. Perhaps it was integrated into on of the Echo songs in their set. Do you recall?

I had just graduated from HS. Attended this last concert of the summer for me --- before heading down to L.A. for college. Ah... those carefree days!

BTW --- did you attend this gig at the UCB Greek? It's my all time favorite venue! Ahh summer of 87. I will never forget.

Came back to the Greek 6 yrs later for my graduation commencement "ceremony" for my graduate school at UCB. After that, it was work. work. work.

Gene Loves Jezebel were awful. They kept mentioning San Francisco and crowd memebers were yelling back "It's Berkeley!".

On the 19th, New Order headlined. Which gig were you at?

I was reading through the thread saying to myself 'No-one has mentioned the most classic live recording in history yet'. And here it is. And as Tim says, Perth not Atlanta.

I didn't think Hooky messed it up too much, the main problem was that Gillian completely forgot how to play it and that caused Bernard to start laughing during various parts of the verses.

Ah yes, the "hello shitheads" gig! Washington Ontario Theater July 83. Hooky was wankered before the gig on melonballs, and didn't show for the scheduled start time.

They went on without him and opened with IALP, with Rob on cymbals and no bass part, then they attempted Ultraviolence without him, only for the returning hero to emerge without any sheepishness at all midway through the song, saying "hello shitheads" and strapping on his bass!

My memory is even cloudier now.

Here's what I recall ---

I remember attending a FRI night show, so that makes the 18th, first show.

I also recall that Echo was on stage before New Order, but you said Echo "headlined" so they must have come up last.

Looks like I'll have to gig up my concert tix stub.

Bradford 84... Great EGG Temptation 586 medley and a huge version of Lonesome Tonight.

Just redownloaded Rennes 1985, a sbd, and damnnit if it is not much better than PFD!! Even BM sounded cool for a change. Loved it when Bernard called the audience daft bastards and told them that he speaks English not French. Been playing at volume until kids bitched.
