Thanks to my bruv Donnie B dahn in Lahndahn, I finally got to see the programme on Prozac that Barney was in!
Very weird seeing Barney on TV as an "Experiment" 
Now I know why Raise The Pressure IS like it is, the songs are a lot more upbeat (in general) all lovey dovey (except for the fabulous Forbidden City)
Very good seeing him do the lyrics, but where was the bottle of Pernod? Surely if he mixed that and the Prozac we woulda had a better album?
Glad to see he's back to being Melancholic....otherwise we would never have heard songs such as Flicker and Haze on the next album, or Slow Jam and Primitive Notion from Get Ready.
Obviously this is only an opinion....what do you's think?

All I was trying to say was that Barney never really seemed depressed to me, obviously none of us know him personally, but with the interviews the band give and all that, they always seem happy, espescially when ripping the piss outa someone
I've always enjoyed Barney's lyrics, you've gotta take a lot of em with a pinch of salt.....I hate these people who have to disect everything, then write a fookin thesis of his lyrics on here.......chill out peeps and enjoy the music.
For me he's a good lyricist, and it was intriguing to see how he admitted hearing hypercritical voices in his head when doing the lyrics.......it's just a pity they never made an appearance when they done WIFM;)
Prozac makes it easier to live but harder to create anything worth a damn. It doesn't really improve your life, just makes you not care about changing it. Maybe it was a contributor to their lulls of the 90s; in any case those who can do without it are well advised to do so. I've been mostly off it for a while myself, the 'road rage' and bad attitudes are frequently back, but so is the proverbial fire in my belly. I don't regret using it, it helped immensely for a while, but it shouldn't be a permanent thing.

No medication will solve a problem, only hopefully clear your mind enough to deal with it. If it clounds it or numbs it, your in trouble.
For your info, only one track was written while Barney was on Prozac (and this was a question used for one of our early contests), and it was A New Religion.

When I got bunged on this stuff I had a massive reaction against it and turned into the elephant man for a few days.
Needless to say, this didn't exactly cheer me up. Worse than fucking heroin......
