any hints on what the content will be...they can't put all the albums on there, so

... selective picking of album tracks??? sort of pointless, but i guess they would be remastered so that might be good ... all the 12" stuff for the most part?? i'd go for that but seems unlikely ... unreleased tracks from the early to Brotherhood period?? might be some gems... ... another emphasis on "hits"... well, that would be kinda pointless ... live stuff??? i never got to see them, but it seems that most of the interesting stuff would be the mid 80s, but then that would be the less mainstream stuff...

... so who is this box set going to be marketed towards??? seems like they could alienate the more mainstream casual fans with too much weird or older stuff, but if the stuff is so spread out in content, what will be the point?

i'm very curious as to what this will be like....

i hope they don't bother with Get Ready stuff, not like it needs to be remastered or that theri is rare stuff anyway......

What sort of wank title is that?

Why not just call it "20 Golden Greats" and lose any semblance of respect they still had!

And anyway, Frads....it's only a game. At least we're bottom of the First rather than bottom of the Third for a change. We get the pleasure of being whipped by a better class of opponent every week.....

Finsbury DVD: the tracklisting (courtesy of those great lads at www.whataloadofbollocks.com) Part 1 Tokio 1985 (formerly known as Pumped full of drugs)

Part 2 Finsbury Park 2002 (also known as Singin' in the bloody fucking rain)

Part 3 In conversation with Hooky (uncensored version*)

*- Region 1 version includes ONLY the edited, fuck-free interview

... is there no end to their originality? ... PFD indeed.

Did they do any other concerts in the 80's apart from Shevchenko and PDF?

Lazy sods.

This may be a dumb question, all this regional coding stuff is confusing me. Are Canadian DVDs compatible with US players? I assume so.

Yes, they played Brixton Academy in '87. That will be Part One of the next DVD... to be released sometime in 2004 (Live at Reading 2003, maybe?)

Formerly known as "NewOrder Academy" (part 1, that is...)

They could even use the interview of Steven Morris on it (you know, that one in the middle of Dreams Will Eventually End) as part 3 of this DVD :D

YES YES YES YES YES!

There IS a God after all!

Say, though, naff title for "Best Of". Why not jump on the bandwagon of the Beatles and Elvis and call it "New Order:One" Of course, this being a 'number-one single' thing, that could only include one song.....so maybe it's not such a good idea....

Pumped Full of Drugs has always been a great title... why are they not using it again??? Would make a great box set title too... or maybe it is "I.V.", the aftermath after O.D.... hope they include as a hidden bonus some of the pictures they took of dead animals back in the 80s....

Thing is, after they release Academy on the back of 'another' live show this millennia, then what? - they're stuck.

Maybe they'll release Taras again, but with Finsbury on the disk, then PFD with Reading. Then Academy could get released again as Academy II with no interview in the middle.

I mean, who wants to see the G-Mex, or Woolwich Coronet ,or Wembley Arena, or Birmingham NEC, or any of the S.E.C.C. shows, or Leeds Tiffany's, or NY Pier '84 ... or The Hacienda ...

if i remember correctly, it was the Vancouver show where Jarvis and Giles couldn't drink the requisite gallons of lager. I don't blame them for not coming to America. I wouldn't want to come to this sink hole filling with moralists and war happy MORONS. who wants to watch a neworder show where 90% of the crowd want BlueMonday and TrueFaith early in the set so they can get out of the parking lots before the traffic starts. I hate this country jeff.

Jeffsy,

Now that we have a Mexican NOOLiner if he behaves and reduces the font of his name you could throw in a gig at Mexico DF, after all it is closer to you than Winnipeg and we could all go there and get drunk on "Coronita Michelada"

if they were to play a gig in Mexico...I would much prefer the beautiful Isla de Cozumel...but that stands about as much of a chance as the band doing a gig on my patio...or in my kitchen...Mexico DF is a rather dingy place, and I'm not sure that even I would be willing to wander back there again, seein as oxygen is in very short supply now days...

sorry me. something has to be said about this!

actually, i think touring the west coast would be good for new order. no night clubs, lots of snow (depending on the time of year), 3 straight days of travelling, with no sight of civilization for the whole three days.:evil3: tim hortons galore!:D

ever seen the film hard core logo? i bet new order wouldn't last a week touring the west coast! i'm sure touring western canada has spelled the end for a lot of canadian bands who dare try it.:evil3:

britain and usa are dead easy to tour compared to canada.

oops...sorry...

add in Calgary Edmonton...

and for a Tropical flair, and just to really piss off the US...

Havana, Cuba!!!!

and one final question...if Jimmy Carter and Jesse Ventura can go to Cuba...why can't the rest of us???

Just wanted to say I am so happy Warner Canada is putting out the box set and dvd here! Its not to often stuff comes out here and not the states. As for New Order doing a cross Canada tour, I can't see it happening. Not to many good bands play Winnipeg. I'll settle with the box set and dvd. Awesome news!!

You're right. What we bought before is good material, otherwise we wouldn't have bought it. So what would be the point in releasing something we didn't buy yet? If we didn't buy it, it's probably because it's not that good. So please London and Warner, don't release unreleased things. Please release things that were released before, cos we know they're good.

:\ohwell: Ate too many "sour cream & onions" pringles ysterday. Or drank too much Médoc. My neurons are screwed.

well, that would make blue smoke really happy, and i think he sounds like he needs some new order to cheer him up, don't you? :D

Just like a feeling inside, it's no joke

I never joke!!! everything I say, every day...is said with the utmost sincerity...and why wouldn't they play Red Deer?

They've played Dallas before...

well, in that case, they MUST play goose bay, newfoundland, otherwise literally tens of people will be devastated!

hmm... to be honest... awfully little hype for releases just a month away (suppossedly)... especially a "historic" boxset...

has anybody seen any magazine reviews yet? ads?... hell, they usually have mp3s snuck on the internet at least three months before Cds get out, so if there is rare stuff in the box, wouldnt it be out there already??? i'm gonna be cynical and wait and see what comes out

it's the metric system that YOU use, remember? we use the grand old imperial system which began in, but is fading out in the UK (although they still use the mile, thank god). nothing to do with the topic at hand, just a note on weights and measures. something i'm sure new order would have a lot to say about if you asked them in an interview!

'say hooky, how do you feel about the gradual change from the use of the imperial weight system to the metric one in the united kingdom?'

This whole box set thing is very scary for us old time fans. We want to hope, to remember that it is better to have dreamed for an outstanding box set than to never have dreamed at all... but at what cost emotionally? Will we be torn apart by a "Blue Monday" box set - with every single version of Blue Monday ever played, all the studio, live and remix versions - and the only bonus rare track is a Blue Monday duet sung by Billy Corrigan and Kylie Minogue backed by the London Philharmonic? Like you all, I am hoping for something truly great, but I have taken out a large live insurance policy for my family in the likely event that it sucks and I quickly head into insanity, mindless ranting, uncontrolled swaying of my arms... leading to an untimely death... death by Blue Monday...

Well, there isn't THAT many people on our army, so Goose Bay being an army camp more or less.. you get the picture :D
