Best Of / Here To Stay / International.....Confusion?

Right, it seems that the imminent compilation will be called International, not Here To Stay.

From what I can gather, it comes in several different flavours....for instance the French one will have a bonus remix CD and the Australian one has a different track listing.

This site lists the UK release date as Oct 15th, but that's next Tuesday. Anyone know if this is correct?

I've read that all tracks have been remastered. Again, can anyone confirm or deny?

Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies.

International is a better name, yeah?

As far as I know, you're correct with the different international flavours. However, what would a New Order release be without a delay? The UK release has apparently been pushed back to October 27, the French on Oct 29 and Aus Nov 1.

Predictably, the New Order v Arthur Baker Confusion remixes have been pushed back to early November also.

Barring any further hiccups, the floodgates will well and truly open in Nov-Dec for New Order releases. Multiple versions x International, International promos, multiple versions x Confusion, Finsbury DVD, IV Box-set... Completist's nightmare / wet dream.

The newly titled "International" Best-Of will also be released in Germany on 28.10.02 and seems to be only one CD with the tracklisting we already know:

Ceremony Blue Monday (Original 12 " Mix) Confusion Thieves Like Us Perfect Kiss Shellshock Bizarre Love Triangle (Shep Pettibone 12 " Mix) True Faith Touched By The Hand Of God (Original 12 "Mix) Round & Round Regret Crystal 60MPH Here To Stay

Are you not too pleased with it? I can't think of a worse New Order sleave, which as I seem to recall was the criteria I was to use when deciding whether or not to purchase, means I'll be stearing around this one.

Is this another one of Mr. Saville's efforts?

The sleeve looks very unoriginal, just like most of the band's songs. :evil4: :\puke:

am i the only one who finds it bizarre how little definite info there is... a month or coupla weeks before the release?!?!! and what about the box set? i would of thought such things as title and content would be set months in advance... so is this a sign of the record company(ies) not really being interested in promoting these records, or have they been indecisive??

and what about some single action to add some attention for these releases? and maybe that is why there is such little interest from the record companies... because there are not any singles... "Here to Stay" single wasn't even a blip on the radar screen... the Chemical bros song with Bernard was 10 times better than Here to Stay IMHO, so i personally found it to be very disappointing...

if you notice, the track listing you have seen of the single CD seems to leave out the Technique and Republic tracks in some countries, I would assume because they were on the The Best of..? comp in 1995... the new greatest hits has very little overlap with the 1995 collection... more or less, you know what i mean... and why is the original Tempatation recording given such little due? i think it has held up very well after 20 years...

This seriously looks like an attempt to get out of a record deal!! :skeptic:

Haven't New Order fulfilled the obligations of their original deal with London by now? Surely Republic, Best Of, Rest Of and Get Ready along with the impending boxset and new album would've well and truly sorted that out. Perhaps someone can recall the specifics of the contract...

Think it's more likely that London is simply cashing in on the modest success the band's enjoyed in recent times. Just in time for Christmas.

... these new releases are already giving me a headache. I've just got a handle on the enormous amount of 80's variants. After reading a couple of posts on this thread we're going to need about 2 grand to keep up to date with international versions.

If all this furore amounts to re-packaged mixes of old then I doubt I'll be withdrawing anything more than a tea bag for my next brew.

Sooner or later there'll be more "Best Of's" than original "real" albums! :evil4:

The French track listing in full:

CD 1

Ceremony 4'23 Blue Monday 7'24 ( Original 12 " mix ) Confusion 4.41 Thieves like us 6'36 Perfect kiss 4.49 Shellshock 6'28 Bizarre love triangle 6'42 ( Shep Pettibone 12 " mix ) True faith 5.49 Touched by the hand of god 7'03 (original 12 " ) Round & Round 3.56 Regret 4.08 Crystal 6'50 60Miles An Hour 4'34 Here to Stay (Radio Edit) 4.54

CD 2

Let’s go (from " Salvation ") Lonesome tonight
Fine time 6'15 (Silk Hurley mix) Round & Round 6'51 (Kevin Sanderson 12 " mix) Temptation 6'58 (original version 1982)

And as Benoit The Belgian rightly points out on the French forum, 6:58 for Temptation equates to neither the 7" or 12"!!

All I can say is that it better be the original version of Ceremony or there's going to be trouble....

It's always surprising that a band considers 'the latest release' as their 'best'. 60MPH in a best of? ... surely not. Better than TMW?

It's 60MPH as in "released as a single", not as "better than TMW" and... more Best of's than original albums... Here's the countdown:

Movement PC&L Low-life Brotherhood Technique Republic Get ready

VS

Substance Best of Rest of International

Well, it's seven against four, still three to go!

Yes, as I said on the French forum, I fear they misslabelled it (like they've been used to since Cries & Whispers was wrongly labelled as Mesh on the 1981-1982 E.P. and Run as Run 2 on the Best Of). I guess it will eventually turn out to be Temptation 87, recently available on Transpotting and 24hpp OST's.

And it's not like they haven't already made that exact mistake on the TBTHOG CD single or anything....

yes Jorge but you forgot that Best of was issued with 2 different tracklistings and International will be available in at least as many different forms....so the totals are nearly identical. let's hope this is indeed a contractual obligation and the next round of NewOrder releases will be on an independant label.....it's good to dream.

Does the boxset count? that's 4 CDs, so it will be MORE CDs than original CDs :D

I'm very curious though to see what will be on that boxset.. there MUST be something unreleased or original (I'm still sure the fact that New Order are in studio right now is not stanger to the release of the boxset), otherwise, it competes directly with "International"...

That sleeve is erm.. not great. Republic is my fave artwork.

International should have been a dark blue sleeve... and nothing else. With a dark blue CD, inner sleeve etc, etc. The tracklisting nowhere to be seen apart from on CD text. And a hefty booklet in the case with nothing in it.
