I remember a while ago Bernard Sumner mentioned Bad Lieutenant were making a second album, and it was supposed to be more "synth" sounding. Now he said that next year New Order will make a "synth" album. I wonder if the BL album is going to be turned into New Order? Or was the entire 2nd BL album scrapped altogether?
2nd Bad Lieutenant Album?

Bernard was also going to do a solo synth album before NO reunited. I think he just has an itch to scratch! Can't wait, of course.
From what I heard the BL album is complete and the New Order album will be separate/new material
So let me get this straight. There is a New Order (proper) LP/EP in the can (Lost Sirens) AND a BL LP in the can? But the hold up on releasing them is what? New Order Ltd is on tour and will record an album when touring is complete (which will lead to more touring). I'm not sure I understand the delay in releasing the NO and BL albums.
My initial thought when Barney said that NO would be recording a new album and that it would be more electronic was that they'd take the ideas from the BL & O2 albums in progress, rehash and release as a new NO album. I look forward to the release whatever means of conception.
Barney has claimed that WFTSC2 would be out in little more than 6 months after WFTSC1. Already planned for release but never was actually finished.
Barney has implied that there was an almost finished synth album with Stuart Price made around the same time as the first Bad Lt. album. Later, Barney said it would have not been possible to write that many songs (pretty obviously), so it was apparently never really started.
Barney then implied there was a second Bad Lt. album being worked on. Or maybe it was just planned.
Barney then said there was a synthy Barney/Stuart Price album being worked on, which may have been different? He seemed to imply they had actually done something, or maybe it was just planned again.
Barney then said he is planning a synthy new New Order album next year... with or without Stuart Price involvement, who knows. I would guess that he would involve Price, since I don't think Barney is up to speed on synth productions anymore.
...and another Bad Lt. album? If finished it would be released years after? Or will it be finished later? Or was it really ever started seriously? Will it ever be released? Barney would have to pay for it.
So that is supposedly 3 "lost albums" and a potential new new New Order album. Really, I think it is very unrealistic to expect a bunch of musical projects from Barney, he hardly was prolific in his salad days. He tried hard to promote the first Bad Loo album and made little impact, I don't think he will do that again as long as he has the New Order brand name.
While Hooky talks too emotional and unwisely in interviews, Barney seems to bullshit and talk in vague general statements, I don't think Barney is that comfortable talking about himself. Can't take things too literal.
I don't much care if they're up to date with current synth production or dance trends. I say let them work on their ideas as they see fit. I trust their judgement. It would be pointless to try to fit into the current hit parade now.
I'm pretty sure that the BL project is RIP. Any BL stuff will morph into the new NO LP.
YAY!

Wouldn't be too sure on that. He has an awful lot of time on his hands, has a mini studio in his pad and is only 10 mins from Steves who has a full blown studio. So he could possibly have a lot of stuff in various phases of production.

Allegedly Hooky didn't leave, "the band split" remember? Just saying....
Bernard's a well-documented creative bloke, if he says he has new songs "in the can" as some Americans love to say then I believe him. While I still have a lot of respect for Hooky's stuff outside of New Order - mainly for the flawless first Monaco album - since 2010 he's been touring basic nostalgia. The only new material threatened is soundtracking 20 year old Hacienda CCTV footage. How on earth New Order fans are supposed to get excited about that particular project I'll never know. God knows I've tried... I really have.
I wish he would do new stuff because I miss his bass on original compositions as I'm sure lots of other people here do; the Hybrid/AutoKratz stuff was great.
A bit of new material please.. anything... 💀

Also his plans might have changed over time taking into account the band reforming and everything. Pity noone has asked him about it in any interviews (or have I missed it?).
from the barcelona radio interview, the gist i got was NO wont start work on new material until this tour winds up. so they might do some sessions next year for a 2014 release maybe.

When I first heard about the next NO LP I wondered - pure speculation! - if it'd embrace the aborted (?) other projects - BL (written not recorded), Stuart Price (on and off more often than my mother's panties), the Other Two (gonna be two singles but only Swing emerged, and Steve told Mojo there was another LP planned). Just a thought but other people here think it's likely too, especially as (a) NO would have more financial and journalistic clout, (b) BL is almost the New New Order, (c) I can't imagine this paltry-producing combo churning out track after track then rejecting 'em all. Who knows though...
