This is an archived legacy thread. Replies are closed, but the discussion is preserved.

This thread is to recognise, applaud and bring back some memories of the finest NewOrderOnline threads of recent times.

Keeping it short and snappy there are only 5 categories, I am however willing to consider other categories should you feel a worthy category has been overlooked.

Obviously we are not going to trawl unecessarily through pages upon pages of threads so you will have to use the thread titles as a guide to thread quality!

the 5 categories are:

  • Most imaginative thread (any topic)
  • Most contraversial thread (must be neworder related)
  • Most informative thread (must be neworder related)
  • Most hyped thread (any topic)
  • Most amusing thread (any topic)

The Rules. All threads created up till 14th November2002 are valid for nomination. The following month a vote will be cast on the top nominations from each categoryA nominated thread can be be a topic from any nool forum from as far back as you can goA valid link to your proposed thread MUST be posted with your nomination (ie: Most Contraversial Thread

There WILL be a NewOrder prize for the posters of the winning threads which will be anounced December 14th ;)

start nominating! :D

And just for adding my 2 cents..

The Most Viewed Thread:

The Stone Roses by Karen "Banned" James, 5570 times! :skeptic:

But for New Order content:

Most Replied:

What's the less good or worst New Order Song? by Buster Klumpy (128 Replies)

Followed very close by the trivia thread in the French Forum by N21 ! in fact it should have been #1, because Klumpy split it in 2 threads :D

For most conotrversial: Hands down whichever one which degenerated into a Grame Ferguson/ Michael McDermott debate.

Yeah, but that one is not New Order related... so it doesn't count, neither does this one and that one...

:nono:

So keep on topic :D

Most imaginative thread (any topic)

Early Huntsman material...

Most contraversial thread (must be neworder related)

Any thread involving Jonathan Scott on the debate of the best New Order website. In particular the one where Candy the Dog (then) told this was the best site, and somehow Muffy finished banned... Can't link it, it was deleted!

Most informative thread (must be neworder related)

The Someone Like You Remix Thread by Dave Dresden, the remixer himself Click Here

Finally we had someone from the industry coming here!

Most hyped thread (any topic)

Any 1000 posts thread... but Martin disappearing from the surface of the earth abducted by Aliens, and everything is pretty much the one... but it's not one thread in particular, it's many!

Most amusing thread (any topic)

Fred West's thread on breasts.. Click Here

It's a great idea Inta  Some of the old threads have had me laughing out loud (not the best idea when you work in an open plan office and you are supposed to be studying an excel spreadshit). Also a great chance to realise how good this forum is and to remember some old contributors who sadly do not post here anymore.

My nominations:

Most informative

the collective Weekly Song Review by the Major & Jeffsy

Most Imaginative Thread

"Can honey be obtained?" by the Huntsman, of course.

Most Controversial thread

Said "Someone like you" thread with Dresden. Here we have a New Order remixer coming to our place and we start shouting abuse at him without even having heard his work yet!

Most hyped thread

"Good times around the corner" by Depthy. Now, I do not know if I have wholly grasped the meaning of this category but to me this is a great thread and one I would have liked to start myself. A "count our blessings" thread if you want when so many people here are so negative about the band (often with good reason).

Most amusing thread

"Blauer Montag" by Huntsman. Never before had Venusian been used in this forum.

Sorry about the links but I do not know how to do them.

I don't know where to start !! There's a worthy candidate for each category every week, which is why I guess we keep coming back !

The funniest thread was that one about "Peterhook.com" where the guy builds furniture and looks exactly like Vini Reilly!

Those two were great threads though, in their own way. Just read through them again post for post. There never has been a complete recovery, has there ? More's the pity.

Amen to that! if that doesn't win, there is no justice in this world.

Most replies was that fookin Room:lol:

I had to do three different threads, cos it took about 45 minutes to get the page up!

Over 500 replies, god knows how many viewing's:lol:

Best reply was probably Major, when he was asked which 5 things he'd like to banish, number 5 was Hooky's microphone:clap:

Marty gained most of his 1999 posts on that thread alone:evil4:

I'll have tae have a wee dig fer answers to the above.

Informative threads would include stuff like instruments etc.... so Timbo, Marty, Johan Mjallby and a few others will fall into that category.

The Stone Roses thread posted by Karen James was pretty contraversial.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but surely that teaser thread - which is 100% New Order related as far as I see it - now has the most views as it's over 2200 now - and STILL the answer hasn't been revealed yet? :nonono:

Where was this Stone Roses thread that was so controversial? Is it still "live" so to speak or has it been buried in the mists of time.?

Wow! I had never read this thread, though I remember having seen it's title, I was very busy at the time and I do not care much for the Roses. I have read it now and amazes me how heated a debate over a very much defunct group can get. I seem to remember that Karen James and the Ian Curtis persona where one and the same and made some very unproper comments on other threads too. I think this thread is best left out of the awards for good.

you know, if barney was a christian, and why so many references to god in his songs...especially on run wild...i dunno if you remember that one.

Geddit now, Thanks Snooker! I did not realise that "is NO a Christian band" was the name of a thread, thence my perplexity.

Found the thread, title "Are NO catholics or protestants" started by Rob Revilo. A most depressing thread in my opinion, mostly pointless except for the fact that in it came to light that there is no Chicken in the Colonel Sander's Secret recipe. Funnily it was me who posted the final message (not a very good one either  )

Agreed. There is speculation afoot that Karen/Ian still post on here though, having now been accepted as part of the fittings.

Ok you've had a week so far some good threads been mentioned!

Remember this thread is a melting pot for nominations, but already a few commonly popular threads are emerging.

Once again which threads would you nominate for these categorys.
