Rooting around in the loft over the weekend, I found my one of these:

I no longer have the NME that it was given away with, but I seem to recall that the peel off stickers were needed "to complete the cover of Technique".

That's all well and good, but I never did work out what you were supposed to do with it. Any ideas?

... you were meant to retain the collectable image and wait for technology to advance to a state where an international network was possible. Once that had been established the hope was that a place within the network focusing on popular music groups would be set-up for likeminded fans to talk with one another.

After a short while the facility to post an image (admittedly, they originally thought it was a far fetched idea) was meant to become available and users could harness this tool to show to others their most potent collection pieces.

Thereafter you could safely peel the sticker off and put it on your: wall, door or pencil case depending on mood.

Just how many more young sprogs are you shooting for, Bluey?

'Rooting', it would appear, has a rather different definition in these parts.

'Shooting' can have different connotations too. Glad I got that load off my mind.

"Rooting"...."shooting"...."load". This place gets more like Viz every day.

Since number two came along, we have neither the time....or the energy!!

And that 'fro is quite magnificent, now that we can see it clearly.

Ah - yes I have one of those fine artefacts too - wasn't it givenm away free withan issue of the NME or was it the Melody maker?

Technique was the album that introduced me to New Order of course! :)

No wonder hardly anybody kept that issue of NME, Jim Kerr of Simple Minds is on the cover, and also has a Morrissey print of him in front of his gravestone that only has his year of birth on it.

Interview of the band by Danny Kelly on the inside, which wasn't too bad, but I couldn't find anything inside relating to the purpose of the stickers.

... are we to conclude that it is, in fact, just a sticker?

:hat:

Incidentally, the ever generous Muff Man Moon Beast posted me one of these - which is now safely tucked in my collection.

Yep. I've got that sticker to and the copy of the NME it came in. It's got a white cover with the Order on the front. Four pictures repeated in diferent colours as I recall.

Aren't you getting confused with the NME post card? The sticker set is pictured above. Anyone still got the Barney and John Barnes poster?

Aye, I have all the said stickers an all, and the poster. Dug out all my old posters last night, found that 8ft Technique poster, I was gonna put it up but ye'd need about 4 packets of blue tac:lol: In the end, I put up New Order 1984 tour poster from Southampton and a Joy Division poster with the 4 lads at the corner of a road. Also found Australian 60mph promo poster which was sent to me by See Ye Tan, just gotta find somewhere to shove it.....any ideas?:evil4: Back to topic again....anyone still got the free poster with the band from NME, it looks like a front cover but with 4 squares and different shades in each square......mine's has gone yellow, where it should be white:nonono: Anyone got a spare one?

Havnae got LL but I found Substance 87, True Faith, the 89 tour pic and various others, but most of em arte fookin ruined, either due to sunlight changing the colour, or corners ripped aff or marked due to excessive pressure trying to get the fuckers to stay on the wall:nonono: Ach well, such is life;)

As i said before this was for the actual case of a cassette. The blurb that came with it said something like if you buy the album, tape it,and put this on the back. But then when you take it to IBIZA (sic) it would peel off or get nicked. Why don't you give this a go HUNTSMAN and if it does not look cool i will send you mine. Now that's a offer you can't refuse.I shall hide it in a LARGE BAG of TESCO crisps so that you can play guess the flavour whilst you eat them. They all taste the same.....PLAIN/READY SALTED!:D

... Ready Salted!!? ... it's like kryptonite to me.

Zero on the sticker test, like the man who treasures the original Hammerhead ... mine's staying in the packaging.

Plain crisps indeed.

:hat:

(and on a Friday ... sheesh!)

Shuglet...have you ever considered putting your posters in frames???saves on the wear and tear???

and when you do put them in frames, you can add little neat things on...I've got the poster advertising the October Manc and London gigs, and it has this nifty little unused ticket for the Friday night Brixton show at the bottom...not that this is in the least bit interesting to anyone...
