Mods, at the risk of sounding selfish, can we please delete or suspend this thread til after Weds morning? Some of us didn't want this made too high profile!

Well, let's see how much this will cost on eBay on Thursday... [:(]

So they have resources to bother with a limited edition and giveaways, but can't make 1-3,000 copies for everyone else?

Completely agreed.

It's obviously a publicity stunt to raise HMV's profile rather than a "proper" New Order release but yes, I agree with those saying it's a flawed idea. To me, it's the same as the utterly worthless Record Store Day which masquerades as something worthwhile but only serves to deliver rarities into the hands of people who sling it on Ebay at the earliest opportunity and make obscene amounts off real fans. There's literally no doubt the same thing will happen with this Movement clear vinyl which is a big shame. Come Wednesday lunchtime expect new Ebay listings popping up charging £50 (minimum). Like RSD this concept is a rosy throwback to people buying records and valuing them rather than acting like touts. Well, the reality is people love a freebie and will cash in where they can.

I work about 20 minutes from Oxford St so I am currently weighing up whether to go or not. Naturally if I got a copy it would go into my collection which would be nice but I'm not sure I can be arsed waiting around looking at my watch in the pissing rain to own a copy of something I've got several times over. Can you imagine if you got in and they said we're out? Fucking hell, it would put a right old downer on the day.

Er, NOOL high profile? [:d]

At any rate, it's all over Facebook, Twitter etc. so I would start with asking them to take it down before this place! [;)]

My guess is it'll be £100 plus on eBay before weds afternoon.

I really don't know what they are trying to prove here! I boycott RSD because of Ebay Scum, and everything released on it gets onto the Internet for free anyway. Same with this. No doubt it'll be on Ebay for a fortune, and to be frank, the record will still sound rubbish no matter what colour vinyl its pressed on anyway.

I really want one, but coming from LA to would be too expense.

A pressing of a 100 is quite expensive. I wonder if they did a larger run and reserving the balance to sell in their shops later? Wishful thinking? Next months RSD titles haven’t been released yet.

100 copies on clear vinyl of a previously released recording, likely subsidised by a deal between HMV and their label, isn't exactly a huge drain on resources. Do you really think Barney is taking money out of his pocket for this promotion?

Hence the reason why I'm on the last train out of Hull tomorrow night. Sick of missing out on RSD due to work and then paying some c**t on ebay.

Can't see where it says how many you can have, one copy per person one hopes, but if I can get more than one I will do and have a little competition so another goes to a good home aswell.

& regardless of quality, if the splatter vinyl's go for circa £250 a throw then who knows how much this will end up being worth. But not my reason for jogging on down to the smoke, will look rather nice framed.

You nutter! [;)] [:d]

If I was a betting man, I'd reckon (as it's limited to 100 copies), that copies will end up at considerably more than £100 on ebay... [blackeye]

I can't be arsed - and Movement is my least played New Order record... It would just sit there in a collection gathering dust... Or until I felt poor enough to sell it! [clown]

Best of luck old bean, let me know how you get on [:d]

I managed to get one! My brother is doing a bit of work in London, so he got up early and queued up and managed to get the last copy which was lucky after somebody tried queue jumping in front of him.

...and they're on eBay already for £150+

I guess that's the nature of limited things.

I had a bit of luck and joined the queue just before 7:30am and there were about 16 people ahead of me. By 8:15am the queue was stretching back quite far, I'd say easily 50 or 60 people behind me. I overheard a few guys talking about when they had arrived on Monday and Tuesday so quite clearly they were touts, hoovering up as many freebies as possible to sling on Ebay. Maybe they were all Beatles, Elvis and New Order fans (yeah right)... the LP was limited to one per person as expected and re-queueing was not allowed.

Less than 50 minutes after the doors opened, they started to appear on Ebay for £200 Buy It Now listings which was depressing to see.

Oh well, more free money for touts but hopefully more genuine fans nabbed a copy than they did.

As for mine, into the collection it goes.

HMV tweet this morning:

For those who missed @Newordernow Movement this morning, second chance for fans in the North West. Details coming soon.

That is definitely good news for non-Londoners.

So is it limited to 100 copies in total, or just 100 copies per give away?

I'm definitely getting an inkling far more have been pressed than initially thought.

yeah, i'm sure we'll be able to buy these at some point. so don't pay a ridiculous price yet.

Well, the LP is stickered "Exclusive Re-launch Product" with the HMV Oxford Street address as well as "Limited Edition" so I would say the odds of it becoming commercially available to buy are pretty slim.

But I agree, the prices on Ebay are going between 60-200 at the moment, they won't stay that high.

I would say they'll settle more around the 40-50 mark eventually (which is still way too much IMO).

With the date 18th October, which isn't today funnily enough.

I must have been one of those people in front of you Ally, i got there around 7.20 (so they didn't all go to touts/re-sellers). There were about 5 or 6 guys standing around at the very front of the queue talking. I was trying to see if I recognised any faces from the occasional pics that appear on this website. But I have no idea if they were NOOLers...

I was 15-20 people from the front of the queue at the bit where Boots joins the HMV store; black North Face jacket and headphones on.

Yeah, could the 18th be the *official* store opening date? I suppose that's why of this week's give-aways probably have the exact same sticker? Regardless, it seems from that HMV tweet there will be at least one more give-away in the NW. This bit of vinyl clearly doesn't seem to be quite as "limited" as HMV led us to believe. That's obviously a good thing for other fans wanting to get a crack at a copy but the inference was this is limited to 100 copies/this event and that's it.

Evidently not [:p] that will dent some of the touts auctions hopefully.

There'll be at least 3 more after that in a giveaway on That Evil Blue Place That Begins With An F. Am hoping for one as my copy skips on Denial (also has odd green sleeve, homemade inner sleeve and may well be a pirate).

Hello

Never posted on here before but look occasionally.

I was first in line today.

Can't pass up free vinyl and as I love this album I couldn't miss it so got there before 6.

The sleeve isn't numbered and if it's like the other special hmv releases there will be 300 plus copies.

It is sealed in thin plastic film with the stickers on that - unlikely it can be opened without tearing it.

Yes, it doesn't say anywhere that it's limited to 100, does it?

"100 copies to giveaway. Limited edition clear vinyl pressing" is what their FB page says.

stay tuned guys. i have something for you soon.
