i've been going through the mixes for world, and this question came up again.

what is the source of this mix?

world (tony garcia radio mix)

it's on the excerpt from recycle cd.

i posted the question here originally, and also there is information about how this compilation came about:

http://www.neworderonline.com/Forums/MessageList.aspx?ThreadID=43128

if you haven't heard it, it's a pretty cool mix.

made a fan video here:

i've checked discogs, and although tony garcia has made 3 other mixes for new order, this one is not listed anywhere else.

if you have an idea. please post.

it will be included in the recycle2, as it's a decent mix.

Tracks 3, 12, 14 & 15 previously unreleased,

Track 14 is the remix you're talking about.

thanks, yes, i have that CD.

that's where i got it from. as i already said in the very first post.

however, this is NOT an official release, if you read the link to the old new order forum.

you will see that the person that made the CD, had it professionally mastered from the sources they owned.

since this track never appeared anywhere else, the question, is where did it originally come from?

i've contacted mr garcia, and if he replies, on the story behind it.

i will post the information here.

I don't think there is any great "story" behind it.

As you probably know when labels need remixes they commission a pool of people to do them; some are used, some aren't. Obviously Garcia's mixes fell into the latter category and remained unused for whatever reason; space constraints, quality, etc. Whomever created the Excerpts... boot obviously had access to a CDR or DAT possibly via Garcia, his management or simply someone at the label. As you note Qwest eventually picked up some of Garcia's remixes for the "Spooky" single; the Stadium mix and a couple of others. More recently, there were remixes commissioned for the WFTSC single which remained unused but filtered out on an Ornadel management CDR. The band and/or label obviously turned a few of them down.

I've also got the Excerpts CDR and it's a nice bootleg, hard to believe it's been over 6 years since I added it to Discogs.

Most remixes probably don't have a great story behind it, I reckon.
