Ok whats the best NO remix ever??
You have two choices:
a remix from an actual NO single release or compilation (like Substance, Regret single, etc)
or a NO remix you have heard from any other source, but if its from the internet or some bootleg cd you have to give us the info (where you got it, where someone can get it, web address etc)
My vote thus far, and I may change this later goes for two:
Confusion from rest of... and track 7 on the Crystal single...i think

ahh that K-Klass mix, if thats the one off rest of, i love it. I actually heard that version b4 I heard the album version. reminds me of past romance 
That K-Klass remix of "Ruined" for me too.
As well as "Nineteen 63" by Arthur Baker (with guitars).
My favourite is the Fire Island mix of Regret. Someone Like You (Gabriel & Dresden 911 Vocal Mix) is a close second.

The Reunited in a day remix of RIAD (unfortunatly called the K-Klass on the rest of, but that's the name of the remixer, not of the mix!)

All those mixes change the song in a GOOD way, unlike most remixes today. Especially World & 1963, two songs I didn't really enjoy until I heard the remixes.
agree that the Perfecto remix of World improves the unimaginative Hague original- most improved award along with... ... the World in Motion 12" no alla violenza mix, with better vocals without the stupid "love" in the chorus, and using the house keyboards instead of those dated mid-80s pop synths in the single mix
Blue Monday 1988 remix is cool, with a sense of humor... so is the faithful remake of Blue Monday (95) by Hardfloor, German acid style
the Bizarre Love Triangle and True Faith 12"s both were very deserving of being played to death on dance floors... i like the second half of the True Faith 12" alot... the BLT 12" is a stomper, but sort of diminishes the beauty and naive attempt at sort of a breakbeat in the original
Sub-Culture 12" is hilarious, i loved the proto-industrial percussion and the absurd female vocals... great sense of fun and humour
the Kevin Sauderson remix of Round & Round was the only interesting one i thought... i always thought Round & Round was too full of cliches, and Hague 12" was boring as hell... the Silk remixes of Fine Time were fun acid house hybrid stuff back then... the Run remix 12" was bizarre and pointless, just marring the beautiful original song
Regret piano laid mixes are nice and laid back... Spooky is boring
does Armand van Helden hate Bizarre Love triangle...? cause it sure sounds like it, or he was really, really, really, really, really stoned.

The 2001 Steir mix of True Faith is very good too.
Temptation 87 is not a remix, but a new recording.
good remixes are: * Regret Fire Island mix * Ruined in a day Reunited in a day mix * Spooky 7" (video) version and some of the remixes (Stadium mix, etc.) * BLT 12" mix and also the 1994 mix on the Best Of compilation: great improvements in comparison with the album version * Sub-culture 12": contrary to most people here, I like this version. But is it realy a re-mix or rather a new recording? * The (Howie B?) remix of Age of Consent on the Rest Of isn't bad * One of the numerous 1995 Blue Monday remixes; I think it's the Brain (or Brian, depending wether we read it on the CD or the inlay) mix. * Some mixes of Crystal, Someone like you and Here to Stay are not too bad, but not exceptional.

Regret (Fire Island Remix). No contest.
Another classic Farley & Heller production is their cover of "Shout To The Top" by the Style Council. It was the unnofficial anthem of Sydney's Mardi Gras in '99 and brings back a lot of good memories. Lolleta Holloway on vocals. Most excellent.
I'd say the FireIsland 12" remixes of Regret as well.
I also like the TrueDub mixes as well.
Reunited is by far the best RUIAD mix by a long margin.

Hmmmmm...I'm gonna go with da mix of Round & Round on the UK DJ12"...ah ca-rap, what was that? the Ben Grosse Mix!!! That's the one...with the Shep Pett-my-bone version of True Faith a close second...
Thieves Like Us instrumental bringing up the rear...
...but as a rule of thumb, sans True Faith...if it was on Rest of...burn it!!!!!

That's the Reunited in a Day version - the one they've most often played live.
wow.....looks like most of you like Regret or Ruined in a Day. I'm really surprised only one person has mentioned the TBTHOG, Age of Consent, or BLT remixes on Rest of.. I really like those. Especially Age of Consent. I think the slowed down tempo makes the song kind of sad...or more sad as the case may be, sounds like a breakup song to me.
And I really can't believe the Confusion remix hasn't been mentioned more. I guess everyones burned out on it...

Everytime i hear a Confusion remix i generally absolutly love it! it was one of the first 12" remix's i bought, confused beats is a gem! however i rarely can be arsed to play it!!
But even the single version of BLT sounds like a bloody remix

The best mix is Evil Dust closely followed by the K-Klass RIAD.
I always thought The Beach was quality as well and always preferred this over the original.
And as Hunstsy has pointed out before the New Order Mix of Regret is magnificent and every bit as good as the Fire Island version.
As much as I like to make fun of Blue Monday as much as everyone else does, back in 88 when they redid the song for Blue Monday '88 I really loved it - the changes were perfect - just enough to update it without ruining the original elements. It is somewhat tired now, but it is still pretty much my favorite version of the song.
I agree with lot of the others on here. Here's my rundown of fave mixes in no particular order:
TF (Shep Pettibone remix) World (Perfecto mix, preferably the edit) 1963 (Arthur Baker remix, NOT radio remix) RIAD (Reunited in a Day remix, Ambient mix) Round & Round (Detroit mix) WIM (b-side mix) TBTHOG (Biff & Memphis mix) TPK (Hot Tracks Remix) Confusion (Koma Bones remix, Con-om-fus-ars-ion, actually all of FAC 93) BLT (Hot Tracks Remix, or maybe the Razormaid...one of them was better than the other) BM'95 (Brain mix) Spooky (New Order in Heaven mix) Paradise (remix)
That's all I can think of...for now. :D
For me, there's just one that stands out - the RM remix of 'Subculture'. Just seems to me to be more like the sorta thing that NO would have been happy with. Unlike the 'single' version, the sequencers/drums are in time and it just has that slightly 'raw' New Order feel to it...
do you notice something about the Republic mixes...
most agree that the Regret mixes are quite good
a lot of people think the Perfecto remix of World is better
a lot of people think the reunited KKlass remix of Ruined in a Day is better
a lot of people like the remixes of Spooky better
... does this say something about the production and work atmosphere of the Republic sessions...?
remixes are also meant to be for fun... some people have got to lighten up a bit and remember the context and era that they were made in... other than just bashing remixes with such malice
My primary choices would be:
True Faith - the Alternate Faith Dub Bizarre Love Triangle - 12" remix Regret - Fire Island Mix The Perfect Kiss - 12" remix
That mix of True Faith would be my all-time favorite if the throbbing percussion at the end didn't go on for so long and become a bit boring. But I'm real biased towards that mix because one of my favorite NO lyrics is TF's "I used to think that the day would never come / That my life would depend on the morning sun...." So when we got that "the mor - the mor - the mor - the mor - the mor -the morning sun," I thought the Universe was talking to me.
Love it best when NO's mixes are different from the album versions, so Regret's and BLT's mix are fantastic for me. Of course, the BLT 12" was released before the album (or I got it first) so that was my first introduction to the song and it will always be one my dearest NO songs.
What can I say about the end of the Perfect Kiss 12"? Amazing.

Quite a few of the posts suggest a thumbs up for The Rest Of Album. The Ruined in a Day, World and TBTHOG remixes are all excellent IMO. Also, the Stadium Mix of Spooky is pretty good as well. Especially given that it has more bass than the original version!
Have to say though, think it's bizarre that we're still waiting on a definitive remix of perhaps New Orders most remix friendly song.............Temptation.
