Just been listening to the new Charlies album, Wonderland. There I was, tapping my foot to an instrumental number, 'The Bell & The Butterfly', thinking...this is alright.

Then I realised why..the bass line has an uncanny, see-you-in-court resemblance to our own BM!

The robbing bastards.

Even checked the CD sleeve to see if there are any credits given to NO - it's THAT blatant.

Be interested to know if anyone else has heard this in case it's just me going tone deaf.

That'll teach me for giving those Cheshire chancers time of day.

is LA the place English has beens go to die? the charlatans were once one of my favorites but the last couple albums have been too rock oriented. new order managed to get a bit more rock while maintaining an electronic feel.

morrissey and tim burgess living la vida loca down in LA. the horror!

why are so many of the albums listed on the top 10 from the last 15 mostly English? because English music is better than American music. LA gave us the Chili Peppers and Janes Addiction BIG FUCKING DEAL Manchester is obviously where its at.

If the Charlatans and Morrissey Toured together they could call the tour "Ruined In LA"

Johnny, Welshcake is bringing a tape of Tim Burgess singing 'Lonesome Tonight', live with Revenge (or maybe Monaco?), along to the Barras gigs.

The reason why music is better from GB than LA is because in LA, there are loads of things to do. You can litterally decide weather or not you want to go surfing one day, and snowboarding the next day, or visa versa. Tell me, can they do that in England? Hell no, so they have less to do, get borred, write good music. Keep it up, you write the music, make it good, LA'ers will keep up with their busy lives, making crapy music when they get around to it (when the surf is flat and the snow is melting. :)

However in LA, you cant play footie on wet sunday mornings, or watch the finest football league in the world live. You cant play cricket ever, or watch fine new bands at local small venues. You cant buy Get Ready et al before the Brits have heard it either.

However, you can hang out with Mozzer, Tim Burgess and the Cult if you so desire!! Where would you rather be?

Tim Burgess sang Lonesome Tonight with monaco at the manchester university in 97, i remember it being totally unexpected and really good although i was ratted (all day drinking is not good for remembering the gig). i have half the show recorded off radio 1, if you get to hear the gig you may hear some pissed up tossers shouting things like 'what's goin on' and 'come on west ham' at Hooky who replied a couple of times, you need look no further for the culprits, oh dear - although it was fun at the time.

alcohol has so much to answer for!

This is the 21st Century, I can buy Get Ready on the internet, buy the Japan release, get it in the mail two days for the GB release, and get an extra song to boot! True, I cant hang out with Tim, Duffy, et al. But I cant hang out with David G & Kenny G LOL!
