HMV Off The Hook?

Call me an old cynic, but "IV" is now called "Retro", so what's the betting that HMV now re-advertise, at the correct price? All previous orders for "IV" declared null and void....

Doesn't apply, because it was on their list as 'Box Set: title to be confirmed'. I have a print out of my order here, so they can't wriggle out of it that way! I'm basically buying the thing for one mix of 'Paradise' I never managed to track down in 1987, and the live disc, so I wouldn't expect to pay much for it (basically a "best of" live album as far as I'm concerned). The only other tracks of any interest to me on there are the Sabres 'Regret' and the original 'Confusion' 12" (the only two tracks I have on vinyl not CD). The rest is just pointless, really.

Didn't Hooky say the idea behind the original 'Recycled' project was to get all the original 7" and 12" versions on CD at last? What is the point otherwise? Where are the rarities?

Andrew Morrison is right. HMV may change what is listed on their website but previously customers were invited to order a New Order box set scheduled for release on 11th November 2002 the title of which had not been confirmed for £16.99. The title of the box set is irrelevant and HMV's website points out that release dates are subject to change so the only circumstances I can think of in which they could charge a different price for the box set that people have ordered is if New Order release two box sets. Come to think of it, if the reported tracklisting of the box set is accurate it might be a good idea to release two box sets: the one they plan to release and one that New Order fans are more likely to want to buy.

Thinking again perhaps I should delete that suggestion in case someone from the band's record company reads it, decides it's a good idea and starts thinking about what they are going to spend their next bonus on. If anyone from their record company is reading this release an R.E.M. compilation (you know you want to because they are one of the few acts left on the label which you haven't released at least one "Best Of" album by) or another Smiths compilation instead. Hurry up because Christmas is less than two months away and you've got fuck all else coming out this year that people will be buying.

What's the reckoning that the title will change yet again in a week's time?

The title of the box has changed to Retro: Box and the new release date is 02 December 2002.

It's still on the New Albums list in the Coming Soon section of HMV.co.uk. If you click on the title you are taken to a page with a tracklisting but also with the message "THIS ITEM IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. The manufacturer is currently not producing this item. If you would like to purchase this item, we recommend that you occasionally check this page to see if it's been re-released". However, if you click on the plus sign in the "Add to basket" column the box set is added to your basket and listed at £16.99.

click "coming soon" at the top of the page, then on the next page click "more albums"... scroll down to Nov 11th, see Box Set... click add to basket 16,99 on that page only... don't go to Box Set link page, because it won't let you pre-order it from there, no price for Retro... try that, the box set is only worth half the price anyways

i checked my order status (i ordered on the 20th), and the site says that i have preordered "New Order:Retro: Box" for 16.99lbs* , goods have yet to be received from... pre-order. :)

so for those that did pre-order its still looking good!! Thanks to clever prying eyes of Mr Fingers!
