I always wondered where the photograph was taken. I had a massive poster on my bedroom wall for ages. I contacted the photographer- Charlie Meecham- who kindly said it was at Hardcastle Crags. Location SD 989 292. Interesting location, though I felt further up river towards the old mill had more of a feel of the photograph. Worth going if you are in the area. And for the literary kind... Sylvia Plath wrote a poem called Hardcastle Crags. She is buried nearby at Heptonstall. Ted Hughes was born nearby at Mytholmroyd... a good day out.

A good day out indeed; there's a bus from Hebden Bridge. Which photo do you mean? Could you link to it?

It's the photo on the sleeve of the 1980 12" isn't it?

Was the video for the 1988 re release shot in Tunisia or something? Or was it Spain?

It certainly wasn't Calderdale. :)

I was thinking a band photo for some reason. Thanks. That image has another resonance now I know the location, which I associate with Plath. It would make a great cover for her books too. I'd never made that connection.

Thanks! Hardcastle Crags, nice bit of info. will have a trip out there to find it. watch out for the ants (although not in winter when the pic was taken obvs.) the road up there, towards Burnley is a a proper Sunday afternoon driving bit of tarmac (gone all clarkson, somebody suspend me...)
