Lost Sirens is not on that list (which I agree with, it feels incomplete, probably b/c of the appending of a mix of I told you so).
I think we know Peter Hook would rank Republic last. I wonder where Bernard would put it. I, personally, love that album.

Same. I get why the band might not think too fondly of it and Steve explains that really well. And personal taste dictates that some will love it and some not, I get that. What I don't get is the strength of the feeling against it from some quarters. To me, every phase of NO has merit and I reckon Republic fits perfectly in their canon.
Interesting to read about the mastering of Low-Life...I've never had it as one of my favourites due to what I thought was its hit-and-miss production (and Perfect Kiss sticking out like a sore thumb). Maybe I just have one of the crap pressings? Ah well, at least it's signed by Hooky ;)

Most over-rated album by our most over-rated band. It's cool that whenever you say they would Never Be The Same Again after the 80's, people go, 'Fuck off, there was that great single or album traxk or...' Looks like you've got Steve's backing now. I agree with Steve re Dream Attack favourite song on Technique. Vague and quite faded memories now of how that song used to make me feel back in 1989.The most optimistic song on Technique.Quite melancholic yeah but at the same time somehow really optimistic and inspiring vibe between the lines.Frustratingly though, much like Run, it never really worked live.
I read the list, I couldn't agree more.
Sometimes I think I like "Technique" more than PCL, but then I realize I'm wrong, haha.
"Perfect Kiss" does stick out on "Low-life", but I still love that album absolutely the most.

Yeah! It sounds like FACD 100 might have CD pre-emphasis marker on, which most ripping/playing software until relatively recently didn't know how to handle. I've also always thought it sounded a little "off"... I'll have to compare some other versions now!
For me Low Life tops the pile. Not only was the initial mastering cocked up, but the running order too. Try this:
