I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying it actually :)

Never got the emails… should I keep trying?

Loved the 2001 mix, still play it with some regularity… good that it includes the (too often overlooked) Heathen stuff.

Yes. We were given access to the open master via official channels. I have to admit my bemusement with the obsession some fans have in discovering if something is "official"or not — like it makes a difference in the final result. It was the same when we did Freebass 5 years ago. Either one enjoys it or one doesn't right? In any case, the 100 limited edition CDs we're allowed to run are almost gone and some of you are going to have a good surprise with the bonus tracks.

Aha. Thanks for coming back. I haven't heard your Beatles stuff, but I'm guessing you weren't given access in that case. Did the Bowie stuff open doors for you?

I think people who haven't/hadn't heard it thought it would make a difference. Why? Because lots of people have done cut and paste remixes unofficially in the past - without access to masters, and the results were not always easy on the ear. It's not worth trying to keep up with every unofficial remix out there - life is short. Plus you're competing with the likes of Erol Alkan, Weatherall, Hot Chip and Hybrid who -I think- set a pretty high standard with their official remixes.

Was that just the one track on THIS COMPILATION (which also features The Other Two)? I've heard your Dire Straits remix on your Youtube channel but would be curious to hear The Chems and Smiths. With nothing currently available on Discogs, is there a way to hear them?

Incidentally, even though it's very different, Nothing But a Fool kinda works as a more stripped down track. It's almost as though you were going for a chill-out vibe on some of these. (It's not cool to say chill-out anymore is it? Ha.) However, I think it's always going to be a big ask for anyone to remix a whole album and make it sound better than the original artist (and their collaborators/helpers). There was a collective of remixers about ten years ago who did Screamixadelica and Flip The Switch - i.e the Primals (obvs) and Chemical Brothers' Push The Button. I felt the same thing then - it's difficult to improve a whole album, but listening to one or two remixed tracks at a time can be more rewarding.

No, we've got these two bands from Bristol to produce and an EP to go out before Christmas.

Don't be so cynical :)

Please check your spam box, if it isn't there, please reply to the one you've got and we'll sort it out.
