"Retro" -> finally some rare stuff ???

If you check the tracklisting for CD1 it seems that we'll get the original 12" versions of "Temptation", "Confusion" and "Ceremony"...

There's two versions of Ceremony. The 7" version was recorded without Gillian and has never been available on CD. The 12" version was re-recorded with Gillian and is the one on Substance. The 7" version is much tighter, has better vocals and is much better.

Again it is not the difference between the 7 inch and the 12 inch but by the 12 inch versions.But be warned cos the CREAM/WHITE was also used AGAIN for the wrong one.I should know cos i had to buy 3 copies to get both 12 inch copies in the correct format.At the time FACTORY and distribution...especially where sleeves are concerned was very CONFUSING.But the difference in both records is not that much.I know it would be nice to have the other one on CD,but with a PERFECT 12 inch copy as source i HAVE made my own.Not for retail but lovely anyhow.Just need the TATTON COMMUNITY CENTRE from CHORLEY on the live CD to be really happy.But FRED has this and that is it where it rightly belongs.He put his time,as i did,to get ALL those 520 tapes.Well done FRED.For me a paltry 403 ish ORIGINALS just pales.But that's life and i LOVE it.

Er, as I s-s-said, I have the rarest of all. The original version in the 12" bronze sleeve.

Bronze also. Quite beautiful.

Sits nicely alongside my green and cream and white versions.

I also have the original version of Ceremony in a cream and blue sleeve.

Svenner has the green sleeve 12inch. And is happy with it ;-)

May have been mentioned before but there is an error on the live tracks CD - Everything's gone green Tolworth Centre Kingston 6/12/85. NO played Central London Poly that night and did not play EGG. The Kingston gig was in January 1983????

Record collector was my ORIGINAL verification of this saga.As for the BRONZE 12 inch i was never able to purchase it.Indeed it was only when HUNTSMAN(the guy with all those rare INNER SLEEVES of PERFECT KISS...cream ,yellow,silver....mines SCARLET (MISS) so it would seem OUTDONE here aswell) mentioned the 12 INCH BRONZE that i realized i was 5 inch short with my 7 INCHER.Still SHUGZV is still outdone (3 inch CD).:D:D:D

Well, there is a possiblity of that 12" version of "Ceremony" being the original...

The original first released on 7" (bronze) with an edited version of "In a Lonely Place". Then it was released as a 12" (green) with the full version of "In a Lonely Place", but it still had the first version of "Ceremony"

Then the re-recorded version (with Gillian) was put on 12" (blue/white) with a slightly remixed version of "In a Lonely Place".

So hopefully the "12 inch version" they are putting on "Retro" will be the from the first 12" (green) release, as it had the original non-Gillian version.

I dunno if any of this stuff is rare, I got this info from our favourite Martian. Not too sure if this is a bootleg or what.....

Was that ever a UK release? I have a bronze sleeved one with green writing but it's an Italian import. The label is the same, except for being black and white and both songs are credited as having been written not by Joy Division but by "Curtis, Albrecht-Dickens, Morris, Hook". Definately the prime original version actually on the vinyl.
