Some my old tapes have various clips from other shows added to fill the tape. One of them is Blue Monday and Barney says tha he sounds like Elvis Presley. It is the live version that starts, then stops and restarts cica early 1985. Can you name that gig?

My memory is terrible, but they had problems with the sequencers in Glasgow Barrowlands February 85 (among other gig) it could be this, Rocket Mick has my tapes, so he'll be able to enlighten you.
If he doesnae, Bennies hat from crossroads will sort you out (he's a bit of a trainspotter when it comes to gigs

Its not Glasgow 85 but must be around this period. Barney dedicates BM to Elvis and then starts waffling that he sounds a lot like him!

The only other time I can remember Barney dedicating a song like this was May 18th 85 in Australia, I think it was Sydney Selina's or The Melbourne Powerhouse, obviously he dedicates the song as it's the same day as Mr Curtis passed away, but instead of saying to Ian, he dedicates it to Mr Elvis Pressley....is it this one? Where's sloppy when you want an answer

Sydney was where he was going on about Elvis, but before We All Stand. "I'd like to dedicate this song to someone who couldn't be with us tonight because he's dead. I think you all know who I mean. Mr Elvis Presley"
The one Mark is on about is a different gig. Haven't got all me tapes with me atm, will have a scoot thru the 85 stuff, but have a feeling it's a bit later than that. Any other tracks from this gig Mark on your tape ?
It was Margate Winter Gardens in August 1984. They did a very short set and couldn't get off quick enough, and opened with BM
Hi Benny, its only the intro to BM. Sounds more like a British crowd, lots of "Oy Oy Oy etc" when the bass drum kicks in, sorry can't tell you anymore.
Oh another thing, I assume it is early '85 as the version of BM they do is the same as Glasgow Barrowlands in early 85, when the bass drum stops and then starts again at the beginning. I have Heaven in late 1984 and that is a standard version so not sure about Steve's Margate suggestion. Cheers.
I suppose it's possible he said it at two gigs, but I was at the Margate one where he said "This song is based on Elvis Presley, who I base my entire vocal style on and who I think I look a lot like". BM started, there was a problem with the drum machine, Barney said the bit above and it started again!!
Steve, you are right that is the one! As they played the same version of BM at other gigs i don't think there was a problem, it was a live remix!!
