Great article. Steven mentions the e-mu simulator. Last night reading the bio of the Residents by Ian Shirley ,the E-MU is mentioned . First seen in Blade Runner(Vangelis' music ) , Hardy Fox of the Res taped the film and its' music and bought E-mu # 005, for $10,000 then ,sequestered himself for a week to figure it out. . As much as i have focused on the history of synths and synth stars, i have to admit that i am ashamed to have overlooked Hardy. He was the brain behind the Res, died Oct,2018, and finally was not anonymous anymore . There are many incredible albums ,by the Residents, by Hardy Fox ,and by Charles Bobuck ,his alter ego. I always thought that Eno was the synth world's top dog, but as i keep checking out the Residents , i think i was premature. Also, Res were with Mute long before NO , so the Res influence on NO is negligible ; how i wish now that Bernard and Steven had met Hardy Fox.
