Noticed a few magazine covers lately with JD as it’s 40 years since Unknown Pleasures. Record Collector and Louder Than War to name a couple I’ve seen and had a glance through in the newsagents. Look pretty thorough and Louder Than War also features an interview with Hooky about his auction. But I just can’t justify anymore spending best part of £5 a time to read the same old story again. On glancing through the latest edition of Record Collector though , there’s some interesting stuff about rare JD & NO releases.

Looks pretty interesting.

Anybody know what director's are involved in the project?

A bit pretentious this (and is there a typo at 0.46? Fantasied?), but Bernard pops up for a few seconds at 3.14, oh and Steve at 1.57. Mary Anne Hobbs is playing her own home copy of the album. Not sure why that's meant to impress us.

Ugh - that's pretty awful. Joy Division's music is timeless and doesn't "re-imagined videos" like it's a Pitchfork new album of the month or something

I actually don't mind the video. I like the use of a desolate landscape, which is very appropriate to the song, in my opinion.

The only problem I have with it, is that doesn't really go anywhere. It needed more variation. More elements to it.

Two men fighting slow motion for 6 minutes just gets a little boring.

Still, quite a nice idea. Will be interested to see the other videos.

Don't worry. Nothing can ruin 'Unknown Pleasures'.

Would like one. Shame that they’re Manc only.

As part of the 40th celebrations, I decided to buy standard and red vinyl UP and Closer vinyl today. Nice to walk into HMV and buy vinyl.

New video has landed. Not had chance to check it out myself yet:

OK. Just watched it. A bit odd.

Can’t say I’m in love with it. But it’s fine.

It kind of reminds me of Lynch’s masterpiece, Eraserhead, in places (one of Ian’s favourite films, apparently). Not sure why. Probably the bizarreness of it and the air of gloom that surrounds it.

I think you have to view these things with an open mind; they’re never going to encapsulate exactly your feelings about songs you’ve known for most of your life. I guess it’s just interesting to see what other people think about when they hear the songs.

This just popped up in my suggested YT videos. Never bothered to watch all these in 2019.

It's easy on the eye (well, she), but I'm not sure what that particlar hand/arm dancing is about. And why is she topless for the last minute of the video? I'm not complaining, just wondering if it fits the song.

Too much of one thing is bad enough.
