Ooh Gary Davies, Ooh Gary Davies Ooooh Gary Davies on your radio.Strange fact, Gary Davies gave first radio plays to to tracks off Technique on his lunchtime Radio 1 show in early January 1989.I recall him playing Mr Disco, Dream Attack and one other i can't remember, one lunchtime.First time i'd heard any of the Technique stuff and it was bizarre that i didn't hear the new stuff first on John Peel which was usually the case in the 80s.
ha ha, "Mastermix" is such a mid 80s Radio 1 word.I recall having Peter Powell's ( god, remember him?) Radio 1 show on, one teatime and after playing Thieves Like Us when it was in the Top 40 i'm sure he said he would do a mastermix of it and a Human League song (Fascination i think) on his show the next week.I tuned in but he never played his "Mastermix" or maybe i'd misheard or misunderstood him.
God the utterly dull and irrelevant minute trivia i can remember, jeez.

I think it's inherent in all New Order fans...
I bore people at work and my wife frequently.
Well that was quite fun.A chunky & funky 10 minute mash up of a lot of the hits.Started with the intro to Touched By The Hand Of God 12" and then on to brief bit of True Faith remix and on through snippets of BLT, Shellshock, Fine Time and much more. Then afterwards the instrumental version of Electronic Getting Away With It played as Gary Davies talked. The mixing was interesting in places though in others it was just basically a straight jump to the next hit.
He said the 10 minute Mastermix will be available to download from BBC Sounds but as of this morning it's not up yet? In the meantime you can go to about 21 minutes in to listen
That's actually a pretty good mix. I thought it might be one of those dodgy 12" singles released in the late '80s or early '90s.
I especially like the transition from Shellshock to Fine Time.
From what i can work out, looking at previous episodes (i gave the Simple Minds one a listen as it has stuff like I Travel and Love Song on.Also, erm, a Five Star, remember them?, Mastermix) available of 10 minute Mastermix from the show, they're put up the Thursday after the Friday before's show.So nearly a week later. Will download it then and give it another listen and try and work out how to save it before the download expires.
Well if nothing else it's inspired me to dig out the 12" version of TBTHOG.Hadn't heard that intro in absolutely years.
I had a megamix on bootleg once. It was a fad at the time and they just ran things together - fun if you're out and about, but nothing for the initiated.
