Had forgotten this place existed.

Will never forget encountering Jeff White on here though, and the banter that led to him becoming a Viking favourite. He will be sorely missed by many.

Are you from Aberdeen or Rochdale? Anyway, nice to have some humour and no idea who JW is or these Viking characters apart from Kirk Douglas.

Nah, it was Hooky's opening line when they played Macclesfield in 1985. If you don't know who Jeff was, you've missed out, sorry to say. And if you don't know the Vikings, are you in the right place? ;)

Yeah I know who Vikings are, just being daft. I did know Laszlo at one point a long time ago and the lad who did the Paradise fanzine.

I recognised that line! Had forgotten which gig it was from though!

Lazlo posts on here occasionally and has helped me out greatly over the years with building my collection. Top bloke. David Smith and Oliver Cain ran 'Paradise'. I knew both, but only met Oliver a couple of times. Was friends with David for years. They lived in Macclesfield, which ties in nicely with this thread.

I'm originally from Leicester and still a big Leicester City fan...

...the sheep shaggers were always Derby County (The Rams).

Mind you in 1982 in school we went on a geography field trip to the North York Moors...

Teacher - what are the main hazzards faced by the local hill farmers:-

"Sheep Shaggers Sir"

...didn't go down well to be fair.

Up here the sheep shaggers are Aberdeen. From memory though the band have never made it north of Dundee?

Still in disbelief after hearing the sad news about our Jeff. 💔 Did he ever post on here?

Yes. Jeffari-al-Texani.

He was a sweet guy with a heavy Texan drawl. Met him at either the San Francisco 2014 or the Berkeley 2017 gig. A bit hazy.

I met him in 2006. Such a witty guy he was. I rarely go online these days, twitter mostly. I was searching for something else on FB last night only to find out about that awful news. 😔

I remember that name from the forum. I seem to recall he was quite humorous. I take it that he has passed away, in which case my condolonces to those who knew him.

Saddened to learn of this news about Jeff. I remember him well from the old days of the forum and met him a couple of times at the October 2006 gigs. Wembley Arena and Wolverhampton as i recall and i think also at that Noolers 'Blue Saturday' in London around the time of those gigs. I'm sure i have some photos somewhere of him from those nights. He posted on here for the first time in years not so long back, maybe within the last year or two, could have been in the listening to thread i think. I recall many years ago he had a particular obsession with The Salmon Dance by Chemical Brothers.Sorry to hear of his passing.

Yeah, greatly saddened to hear about Jeff’s passing. Don’t think I ever got to meet him in a person, but maybe I did. I just remember his witty insights into the endless banter that used to go on on this forum way back 20 or so years ago when I first stumbled into the party. God rest you Jeff! …….. and Collette too (Cheeky Monkey)…. another sadly gone too soon! I miss those days. I sometimes wonder where you all are now? Remember Huntsman?? Ringmaster general he was. Buster Klumpy?? Far too many to mention everyone, but you know who you are. I hope you’re all well!

I feel like I'm missing out with all these people. Sounds like a good buch of people.

I don't think I registered with the old forums and may have only ever lurked there. (During the 2000s, I was on a bit of a break from 'New Order-ing', having become quite jaded following the endless reissue and remixing of the 90s and the (IMO) lack-lustre LPs of the 00s).

Sorry to hear about all these memorable NOOLers no longer with us.

There were indeed fine times to be had here back in the day.

@Muffy I can confirm Huntsman is alive, well and still hopped up on Pringles. Takes a passing interest in the latest things "New Gordon".

"Be A Tomato Not A Potato" didn't quite lure him out of his den.

Ah, that's good. Pass on my regards to the old cat, i'm glad he's still loose on the streets.

Well this thread seems to have brought some of the old names out of the woodwork. Welcome back of course, perhaps we should kill the fatted calf for y'all (no I don't mean Bernard, he's too old to be a calf).

I mean it's got to be better than those FB groups where someone just randomly types a line of NO lyrics and gets 96 likes or summat. Or someone posts the video for Crystal and says "haven't seen this before, why do they have The Killers name on the kick drum?".
