Hmmm. Looks like this was an older podcast, dating from May 2023. From a place called RadioTopia.
Weird how it was played on 6Music yesterday, as it seems to be its own thing, rather than a BBC effort.

I did hear a trailer the other day on 6Music for this series. Blue Monday was playing underbed though it wasn't actually stated an or any episode would be about how Blue Monday was made. Anyway, i assumed that one episode would be about Blue Monday seeing as it was used in the underbed ( is it called an underbed? I'm not actually sure now) and to be honest i groaned. I mean, we've all heard the story a million times before, no? I'd be more interested in an episode about how The Perfect Kiss was made.But that's never gonna happen.

Song Exploder is a great podcast that was turned into a Netflix series just before the pandemic. There are 8 episodes covering artists like R.E.M., Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, and Dua Lipa. I was hoping they'd continue making more episodes.

That Dua Lipa episode is hilarious, it's like one massive PR exercise by her publishers to try and put the case forward that she didn't rip off the White Town song, they just happen to share the same sample (just don't mention that they have the same chord sequence and bassline...that way lies a songwriting credit for someone else!) ![[:d]](/emoticons/biggrin.gif){kind=small}

Never heard anything along those lines - I think New Order changed things enough to not be direct plagiarism. Donna Summer and Kraftwerk probably gave their blessing for the kick drum pattern and Uraniam sample - if they were even asked.
The only legal trouble song-wise I ever heard about was John Denver suing them over similarities to Run.
