How many people here are either JD fans with no love for NO or NO fans who can't stand Joy Division? I'd be interested to get a topic like this started.
Here's a query to answer

I like JD very much but I'm not a fan of JD. To me, it's 2 separate bands that have a lot in common.
JD are a little too dark for my taste although they recorderd timeless classics, of course.
Love NO but am not that 'bothered' about JD, per se.
I'd just turned 12 when IC topped himself and was more into Ska at that time - as most Engerlish kids of my generation probably were - so can't say JD ever meant much to me as a band.
I mean, has anyone here actually *SEEN* JD live? Almost certainly not.

Well, Isabelle, my best friend as a boy friend slighly older who saw JD in Brussels and saw NO at leats 2 times in early eighties.
I'm jealous...
I would always have NO over JD, but I still consider myself a fan. But its nowhere near as intense a relationship as i have with NO...

April 1980, Manchester, my older cousin was a bouncer at the club they played in, cant remember its name, I was 14 and well down the road of delinquency, but fuck me I knew a chooooooon when I heard one!! They were loud, played for about 45 mins and were gone, Curtis was dead a month later.![]()
Music is a interstellar language from a highly insignificant planet! some help from good old Dieter there:
- And JD/NO is still the greatest!
Well...I absolutley love the order...all I can say about JD is that I think they are an integral part of the order, and I am very much intrigued by their music, but I also feel it is like comparing apples to oranges...
I honestly enjoy both, though I will admit there are times when listening to one is preferable to the other.
Personally I love JoyDivision...but like Barney stated in The NewOrderStory...it is a bit heavy to listen to sometimes...you have to be in the right mood to listen to them....
I even find it harder to listen to Warsaw...that is hard-edged music!!
