When I was first getting into New Order and bought PCL, apart from Your Silent Face, I also really liked the sound of Ecstacy. Does anyone know anything about this song ie. what it's about, it's origins or what that synthesized lyric is supposed to be saying??? As far as I know, it has never been played live.

It's definitely never been played live, that much I do know. Can't answer your other questions though sorry.
benny....would you agree with me in saying that this track was definately one that caused them problems when played live....not the best..
Barney's little brother Bobby was a big raver and even though he was only 4, he did lot's of E. Barney was concerned for his well being - E being much scarier than Pernod - and wrote this song. When Bobby was found dead, lying in a pool of his own pacifiers, Barney wrote Fine Time to try and scare toddlers away from drugs towards something more docile... like Pernod.
