Speaking of PFD, I just got my copy from HMV Japan (thanks for the tip Heather! :)

Excellent video, I agree. One thing that struck me as kind of cool was the first song, Confusion, Barney is playing bass and Hooky is playing guitar!!! :happytongue:

Barney seems to be doing some thumb technique, slapping and popping, etc.. Towards the end of the song, Hooky switches to bass, so it becomes a 2 pronged bass attack.

My question: Are there any other songs were Barney plays bass, or Hooky plays guitar? Did they usually play Confusion that way live?

I'd always thought, after listening to Confusion, that there was 2 basslines in this tune - kind of like a rhythm section, and a melody too. That video only proves that I was right in thinking such a thing

I am so jealous that you have the PFD video , I had it years ago but lost it in a house move !!, it is the best NO video...

In the Confusion video, you can see Barney hold the Bass...

In Joy Divvie days Hooky used to play guitar and Barney bass on "Sound of Music" (I think it was), and what a fucking racket that was (see the "Here Are The Young Men" video)

I like that version of S.O.M. It's giving Hooky a chance to play lead guitar (not that he doesn't already). Amateur NO Historian Time: I've heard that Barney got to play guitar simply because he bought one first, making Hooky settle for bass. Is this true or just a blasphemus rumor?

Hey Ryan, if you live in North America, you can get PFD through HMV japan - it's easy, they have an english version of their web site!

Thanks for the info FDISK and T#7 :)

I heard some similar rumour that in the embryonic days of Warsaw, Barney and Pete both wanted to play guitar, but for some reason (?perhaps that barney bought one first?), hooky ended up playing bass.

Reminds me of how Paul McCartney also "fell into" playing bass for the Beatles. Originally, Paul was the keyboardist, and when the (not so good) bassist left the beatles (I forget his name), neither John or George were willing to switch to bass, John apparently b/c he had just bought a brand new guitar! So Paul switched to bass and the rest is history.

Two questions:

  1. Did you pay $56 (us$) for this video and
  2. Is it worth the price?

Thanks!
