Well, not all the time, clearly.

But, in the mid-eighties, we had a televsion show, hosted by Ray Cokes before he went playing with Rob the cameraman on MTV. "Rox Box" it was called.

And, the 31st of december 1985, New Order played in Belgium (their last time in Belgium too, sadly) and the show was almost fully broadcasted.

There were rarities like The Village, Let's Go, Thieves Like Us, even Atmosphere wich wasn't very common at the time...

And you also got Barney singing "I like walking in the park, when people fuck so hard", in Sub-Culture.

Agreed, this is one of the finest recordings you can find of New Order live. Don't think it was a New Year gig though, but was defo around that time? Think they cut the likes of Temptation and Perfect Kiss from the final recording though?! Shame.

According to the gigs list on this site, it was on the 31st.

Yeah, it was an edit. But "Perfect Kiss" was on it. But there's no full NO show that exists on tape (Academy, Reading, PFD, Montreux...).

The show might've been broadcast then, but the gig was the 17th December, I'm sure.

Is there not a full Montreaux show available? I haven't got a copy but was always under the impression the entire show was broadcast?! If not, what did they cut?

Still, there's plenty of complete bootlegs out there of complete gigs!

Well, if that's the case, there's an error on this site. The 2 songs missing are Confusion and Temptation.

As for the Montreux gig, I taped it from MTV. Are missing Blue Monday and Fine Time.

Do you have the full show ?

Er, I thought that was the lot? Just checked on Water Rat's site and he's got Blue Monday and Fine Time listed but I always thought they'd just done 10 songs, and no encore, as they were only a support band that night.

Have to say I've never seen a bootleg with all 12 songs..

F242 .Love 'em to bits.Last saw them live on the Re:Boot Tour at London Astoria 2000. Right at the front ,jumping around like a fucking mad person.:) Very underrated,more so than N.O. Completely ripped off big time by NIN,Prodigy,DM,etc....... About time they released some new material.As for a comeback,they've never been away!!!

I maybe wrong but I remember having read an interview with Ray Cokes where he came up very strongly on New Order, he said they were one of those bands that are much more interested in beer than in music or something to that effect.

Fuck all else to do in Belgium.... but back to Front 242 - Love 'em. "Funkadafi" was my fave and "Headhunter". I saw them live in London but probably late 80's early 90's (nurse, can I go to bed now?). Weren't factory bands "The Names" and "Streetlife" also from that most interesting of nationzzzzzzzzz?

Don't know about Streetlife but you're right about The Names. In fact, they were signed on Factory. I know the singer from that band and the fucker met people from The Order quite a few times back then.

Well, seriously, he's an incredibly nice fellow that turned film critic for a very important Belgian newsmagazine...

I used to be a fan of Patrick Codenys and Daniel B. et al. as well at the beginning of the 90's.

I remember that I loved the first single I bought from them, which was Headhunter/Welcome To Paradise. What a single! And afterwards I bought the TYRANNY FOR YOU album, which is probably their best, and I remember when I bought it at HMV because when I got home and opened the CD case, there was NO CD inside!!!! I felt SSOOOOOOOOOOOOO ripped off!!! I went back to HMV and explained this, a little bit anxious, and they said "no problem, this happens sometimes". Huh? CD cases with no CDs in them? Wow.

In any case, I LOVE the song "Rhythm Of Time" and the single has nice remixes.

After that I bought two previous albums second hand, and my love for the band dropped when they released their following two albums, which were some sort of "twin albums" (don't remember the names... EVIL / GOOD something). I bought the single "Religion" and quite frankly, I thought it was a little bit too hard to listen to! :)

Talking of Belgium, who can forget the football team they had in the early-mid 80's - excellent stuff.

I also used to go to a pub quiz where there used to be a question about Belgium every week. The Pub Quiz Master even set up his own shop called The Belgian Question!

Yes Disco - Belgium's footy team was marvellous in the mid-80's... real quality. Unfortunately, they're a bit cacka nowadays and couldn't score in their own net.

Buster... any news on the mock-Temptation song?

The Belgian Footy team was good in '90..Enzo Scifo, Eric Gerets, jan Ceulamans etc....then Sven Goran's bastard son David Platt knocked em out..

Well, whe had to cancel the rehearsal this week. But I asked my keyboardist. He said he's never done it but thinks it certainly can be done. Just have to wait a little more but the reward will come in the end... :)
