RETRO BONUS DISC UPDATE

Every copy of the first UK run of "Retro" will include the "extras" CD.

That means that any shop selling the album should supply the bonus disc when you purchase "Retro".

It follows that any advance orders (both from the UK & import orders from overseas) would also include this CD.

Hopefully that will put a smile on the faces of some here...

Is the "first run" more than the 3000 previously stated?

Don't know...but having said that, I would certainly have thought so.

Given the lukewarm reception fans gave Retro's initial 4CD tracklisting and the warmer reception that the bonus disc got making the bonus disc more widely available seems like good business, especially in the era of Internet file-swapping and CD burners. The 4CD Retro may have sold out quickly as Heart & Soul did but may not have done. The 5CD Retro would almost certainly sell out and make pressing a larger quantity than initially planned less risky. If they had released two versions of Retro (a very limited 5CD version and a 4CD version) the 5CD version would have sold out immediately and instead of buying the 4CD version some of those fans who had missed out would have gone in search of copies of the 5th disc and probably the 3rd and 4th discs too.

Could London Records finally have realised that it's in their interest to give New Order fans what they want?

So what ??? Is it UK only now ??? Or do i also get it in a german HMV-store ??? First we were told it's going to be an HMV-only-exclusive ALL OVER THE WORLD, and now it's in every shop in UK ??? So no HMV for the rest of the world ???

Latest is that it's not exclusive to HMV, every copy from the "first UK run" sold in the UK will have it. It is also going to be included with the American release, but I've no idea how limited or not that will be.

To reiterate what 4:45 has already said in this thread, the implication is that copies pre-ordered on the net from the UK will be from this first production run and therefore contain the bonus disc.

i'm confused. why don't you just order it from hmv.uk or towerrecords.uk (among other sites)?

I do hope this is right. So far I've..preordered it from amazon...cancelled amazon and pre ordered from HMV...cancelled HMV and gone back to amazon (cos amazon does free shipping if you buy the finsbury dvd at the same time).

i don't know...i'm kinda pissed off really now. i wrote a mail to WEA germany today and asked if there's going to be a german limited...no reply yet. still no idea how to manage it without huge effort.

You're all gems ;) i'm still busy gathering information about anything happening in germany with the "bonus case", but WEA Germany is very lazy in answering e-mails. i'll check the german hmv-webpage the following week. In the end...i hope there'll be support from my english friends ;)

my experiences with german record companies are so good, that i can say, their product manager's know everything about every single artist who sells loads of records in Germany...but...it's not New Order. Marco's calling WEA germany: "Hi there, i'd like to talk to the person who's responsible for the business affairs of New Order" Secretary: "Sorry, Mr. xxx is having a very important meeting". Marco :"well, could you give me his direct phone number?" Secretary: "No, sorry i'm not allowed to tell any phone numbers, please write an e-mail to the official-overall-request-e-mail-adress of WEA Records Germany". Marco: "Thank you very much and f... off".

Listen, I'm here in the UK, just ten minutes walk from an HMV on Monday morning. They'll be selling several copies of 'Retro', all with the bonus disc for £29. My copy will be on it's way for £16.99 from their website anyway, but if you lot overseas are that worried about not getting the bonus disc, email me, let me know where you are, and we'll use that Yahoo currecny converter and the good old Royal Mail Post Office here in the UK to work out how much you can pay me to get the copies shipped out to you by any mail method of your choice.

I'll happily do this for any of you with no commission on top, as long as you guarantee to post me a cheque for the exact amount with postage - I'll even take a digital picture of all the boxed sets together, publish exactly how many wanted it on this forum and get 'em all out to you (providing HMV have the stock) - no strings attached. It'll be me getting into debt on my credit card for these things, so if you don't send a cheque I'll flog it on Ebay in years to come anyway!

I know how desperate people are for this extra disc, and how pricey imports can be in other countries. Email me by Sunday, we'll discuss exact arrangements, and I'm happy to do my best to save you all a bit of money, in the interests of making some New Order fans as happy as I'll be when I finally lay my hands on this ellusive fifth disc!

Do they piss around with release dates just to make us feel young again? I thought it was just a Factory thing.
