New Orders "neighbours"

C'mon we all are overally aware of their presence when rooting through the "N" section!

Nitzwebb (spelling?) New Model Army New Fast Automatic Daffodils

Anyone actually listened to any of the Orders next door neighbours and are they any good?

and more to the point anyone picked up an item by mistake??

I have to confess picking up a Nitzerebb (spelling again!) t-shirt which was flatpacked under the "NewOrder" rack, all that was visible through the packaging was N and a E and parts of a relativly Movement'esque design, feeling somewhat intrigued I made said purchase....

Are you referring to Nitzer Ebb? Must confess to having been a bit of a fan in the early 90s. "Ebbhead" was pretty good. Had a stage of being into what the Benelux countries refer to as "Electronic Body Music", ooh er... Also used to like Front 242 and the Young Gods. Go on, let me have it...:o

New Fads on the other hand were great, very good live, had a guy who used to play the congas for the whole set, he's bound to suffer with repetitive strain syndrome when he' older! And yes I had the t-shirt with the big daffodils on a la the James t-shirts of the time. Go on, let me have it...:o

C'mon Inta, You surely must have heard New Model Army, they were quite popular for a while, I saw them back in the eighties when they visited my home town. I do not like them too much, very uninspiring, but sort of listenable anyway.

Oh i've heard of all of them! cant say i could pick out any of their tracks though!!!!!

I use to love New Fast Automatice Daffodills, I wonder what happened to them?

For a while New Kids On The Block were there too. Was anyone else worried in case someone saw you and thought you were browsing through their records?

At of my fave record stores, which still specializes in vinyl, I've often found New Order 45's in the Olivia Newton-John section, and no, I haven't bothered with those.

i have both olivia newton-john's 'physical' and 'greatest hits vol. II' on vinyl. classics, both of them.

as for nitzer ebb, i had the pleasure of seeing them open for depeche mode in 1990 on the violator tour. not bad, not bad. i bought a few albums of theirs, but haven't listened to them in years. and i always liked what i heard of the new FADS.

...neither band ever matched up to ms. newton-john, however.

I dunno about ONJ, heard Let Me Be There (with that annoying bass singer) the other day and started laughing, though her cover of Dylan's If Not For You isn't that bad, and when I was growing up, my sisters would insist on playing that infernal Grease soundtrack everywhere our family went.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the fantastically short lived chart success of New Muzik, who hit the charts with "Living by Numbers" in 1980 or early 1981.

Maybe its because they were shite.

Moving off at a slight tangent I knew stores who stocked New Order's 1986 album under 'B'.

I wasn't sure if this was because they thought the album was by The Brotherhood or if it was by Billiton Titaanzink.

Interesting thread DoN - I'll add Nine Inch Nails to the list - lost track of the number of times I've founds NIN mixed in with Neworder.

Not listened to any of 'em mind - my tastes are reasonably narrow - although I have just gotten both Doves albums & they may be considered neighbours for Joy Division. ;)

Nitzer's Showtime was a GREAT album, as was That Total Age. They can eat the rest of them, cause they sucked more than a Hoover vac.

Right on AgentWood...I just picked up ONJ's "Xanadu" on double vinyl in Tokyo recently...what a find that was!

I saw Nitzer Ebb open for the Mode on the same tour and they were grrrreat! I think I had just picked up a copy of "Showtime" right befor the show...still my favorite NE record.
