This will be a VERY difficult one.
Technique is my favorite album because it has no weakness, so go figure finding a bad song out of it.
But well, I've never been a fan of "Fine Time".. so if I have to chose.. it will be Fine Time with Guilty Partner is close second.
"Love Less" is a pretty song, but it feels like an outtake from Brotherhood, it doesn't fit too well on the record in general. I always seem to skip this one when playing it.
Love less and all the way are 2 of my absolute favourite new order songs.
I voted for Mr Disco... i mean come on lads, think up a new bassline for god's sake!!
Guilty Partner's the one I always skip over (that's a bad sign for any tune). It's decent, but my least fave (lest I offend any Guilty Partner-ites)
This is the one cd, were there is no bad songs, sorry.
I will guess Guilty Partner is the weakest. (which is why they only played the song 2 times ever. But I like it
Nik could you add another option into the poll called something like ....Perfection ????
as there isn't a bad tune on here at all, i still play the whole album at least 3 times every week and it still feels a fresh as newly baked bread

I think the only minor weakness on this album is "Round and Round." I think everything else on the album is outstanding, but for some reason, I don't like Round and Round so much. Go figure.
hard one. I´ll go with all the way. my first impression (listening to the intro) was that sounded too much like cure´s just like heaven. that´s my only reason and is not a very good one. :D
Too bad there wasn't a none of the above option. I was torn between "Fine Time" and "Guilty Partner" but come to think of it, I skip "Fine Time" more. I've grown to like it more than I used to, but it's still a bit subpar compared to the rest of the songs. I think the song's style is what makes it difficult to like. The best part of that song is when Barney or Hookey gets on that voice coder and starts talking about lurve technique.
That's a hard one. "technique" is the best New Order album ever (in my opinion), but if i had to choose an average song off this album it would be Fine Time.

yes i do have the Fine Time 12"...I used to play the mixes on College Radio way back in the day. I was very impressed that the live version on Retro was recorded in Chicago where i beleive they were supposed to hook up with Saunderson but Barney was illin. I wonder what made him so sick? (ha!)
Not that Fine Time is really so baaaaad but compared to the other gems on Technique, it had to be chosen.
How can you vote for a song which has the line "i've met a lot of cool chicks, but i've never met one with all her own teeth"!! I can't force myself to vote for any. I love the album and it would feel like cheating on a devoted partner! Sorry!
Guilty Partner. Surprised so many people have voted for Fine Time - the bass line at the end is one of Hooky's finest moments, IMO.

i guess it took the success of True Faith for them to start finally getting groupies with all their own teeth. This just goes to show that if you keep trying, good things will come to you in the end!
Fine Time is a fun song, they got too serious in the 90s (or at least one of them). i've always skipped over Round & Round mostly.

Hands down my favorite New Order album. Like someone said previously there is simply no filler on this album. Whenever I pop this album into the cd player it always get's played all the way through. No vote from me.

I still remember the thrill, not knowing that a new album had been released, but I made a trip to Sound Warehouse on Tuesday...and there on the new release display, sat Technique..I knew, just from seeing the cover, that it was a New Order album!!! Oh to be so happy again!!!
My vote is for Mr. Disco. It's a great tune, but it sounds a little dated. The other songs sound like a product of their time, a leap into the 90's, but Mr. Disco sounds like it came from the mid 80's. I guess New Order did it on purpose, but it just doesn't fit in my opinion. Plus, it borrows some of the basslines from State of the Nation.
I remember buying Technique on its 1st day of release. Nipped into town in my lunch from college to pick it up. In my niaivety, I was so disappointed that it didn't all sound just like "Fine Time." Gave it 6/10 the next day when we met in the common room. Ha !!! So changed my mind soon after. Not only the best NO album, but for me, the best album EVER ! No weak tracks & no fillers & ironically, I just voted for Fine Timne as its weakest track, whilst listening to "Don't Do It." I have bought Technique for so many friends who needed NO in their lives & happily, most have gone on to follow ther Order. Pity it doesn't feature much in their live sets but c'est la vie. ;)
Picked Fine Time. I think it's a great track but it probably should have been a non-album single.
Yes, the basslines from All the Way and Mr. Disco appear to be "inspired" by other songs. I also detect a similarity between the basslines of Dream Attack and Paradise.
Despite all the above, Technique is one of my all time favourite albums.

Fine Time, but even that's good once in awhile. I used to skip Guilty Partner all the time but after awhile I really got to like it, especially that "Spanish" guitar bit and then that big keyboard line towards the end.

yeah, spot on about Fine Time...I still couldn't vote for it as the worst song...I can't believe I'm the only one who voted for RUN. It's a good song...i always seem to skip over it when listening to TECHNIQUE...hmmmm, not sure why.
p.s. your also right about the basslines....although I think ALL THE WAY was semi-intentional. from what hooky says it was payback for them mimicking TPK in their "In between days"
I love Fine Time. Full of verve and very funny. I must have heard this album zillion times and I still love the opening bars of Fine Time as much as any song they've made.

Personally, I don't think there is a bad song on Technique. I must admit I wasn't a big fan of Fine Time when I heard it for the first time but it did grow on me, especially when I saw the TOTP appearance featuring Bernards impersonation of Bez.
Had a soft spot for it ever since then.

Same here. That's one tough poll. Voted Guilty Partner - not that it's a bad song, and is probably a better one than Fine Time when viewed in isolation, but I think it breaks the flow of the LP, particularly on vinyl.
in my yoof, i used to skip fine time - it didn't quite fit in with my teenage angst. don't mind it so much now, but voted for it on behalf of my former self
Technique is a supreme album...if I have to choose one, I'll pick Mr. Disco. I like it very much, but a poll is a poll.
Guilty Partner was a tremendous hit to me, and Technique was the first NO album I heard, still my favourite with Low-Life. A perfect ten...
Never been a great fan of FineTime, im just pleased its the first track cause it means i dont have to skip a track mid album :)

My vote goes to Fine Time but I don't actually hate anything on Technique - it's just about perfect!
while Fine Time is definitely not the best cut on Technique, i actually think its presence is very important, particularly as the opening track. in my opinion, it's the strangest, most discordant song on the album, and takes more risks than any of the others. in that sense, i think that it sets the tone for the album well; it immediately establishes a certain sound to the album and introduces the listener to many of the new techniques (no pun intended) used on the album (both in song-writing and particularly production). i think that it needs to be the album opener because it immediately posits that the record is different from anything the band had done previously.
Guilty Partner. IMHO one of the worst NO songs of all time. I always skip it Seriously, it must be filler.
Run amd Mr. Disco are me faves.

What song are you listening to? I read "sugary crap pop song" and wondered if this was a worst song on TECHNIQUE poll- OK, you didn't like something- but "Guilty Partner"? Described in that way? In what possible way is that song SUGARY???
Bleak, depressive, atypically Joy Division-like and driven in its expression of a sterile romance, but SUGARY?
I'm not aghast that you don't like the song; I just wonder exactly what song you're speaking of.
Fine Time and Round and Round. Originally it was guility partner, just as originally Loveless was my favorite song off the album, but within a few months Guilty Partner had won me over, while Fine Time and Round and Round had become irritating. To this day, 13 years after i first bought it, it remains my favorite New Order album, although today my favorite songs off of it are Run and Mr. Disco (with Loveless, and All the way right behind).
Very hard to vote on the worst song. One of many albums that I will listen through from start to finish. No vote here. Great album.
DEFINITELY Guilty Partner. everything else on the album is so much better.
and i must say - i have fallen completely and utterly in love with Fine Time in recent weeks.

I would have to say Love Less followed by All the Way, though not bad songs by any stretch of the imagination, they aren't as 'dancey' as the rest. This album has some fantastic dance tracks that were so fresh back in '89 at the time of all that Kevin Saunderson type techno stuff.
