I dont know if this has ever happened to anyone else before, but during the time I was getting into Joy Division, for about 3 months I thought Barney was Peter and vice-versa. Bernard does not suit his name, he looks more like a Peter, whilst Peter definitely looks like a Bernard!
What do you say we all start calling them by their REAL names :D
For years Sebastien told me Stephen Morris was Peter Hook and vice versa...
I discovered the truth after buying the Peel Sessions album...!

yeah, i got peter and barney mixed up for a short while too. i never saw a picture of them, i thought that monaco was barney's side project.
Never got them mixed up because I was at school with them but never realised until 2 years after True Faith that I was. What a complete shock to the system that was! In the meantime they were just 2 random guys from Manchester but Barney has never been anything other than Barney!
In High School, a girl friend of mine thought New Order were Head Bangers, because the only video she saw was TBTHOG. It was funny when she talked about them.

Well, in the early days I thought that Steve was Barney! Why? Because the first time I ever saw a picture of them was... on Low-life's sleeve! So, if Steve's face was on the cover, I thought: "This one is on the sleeve, so he must be the singer!" (I already knew their names) Brilliant thinking, right?
I though gillian was the one who sang BLT, TPK and the other high tunes... when I noticed that actually was a man I thought "he´s got such a girlie´s voice, must be as jimmy sommerville, well" 
Actually it was Jimi Somerville, and they were originally going to call the box set "Hetero" in his honour :D

speaking of jimmy somerville...
i was convinced that mr. somerville and alison moyet were one and the same person for years. to this day, i still can't tell their voices apart.
