Oh my God that one is going to be hard.

Many people dislike this album, I love it, and there is no standout track for me.. I have a real problem to pick between A Life Apart, Kashmere and It's A Boy...

The End of the World bass line is excellent, I've Got a Feeling is a top pop tune.. DIFFICULT...

Ah well, my first "love" on this album will do it.. It's A Boy it is...

"I've got a feeling", after that "Black Rain". The rest is cheesy crap, totally overproduced, more sound than song, more head than belly. :hooky:

The only Monaco disks I have are several singles found in a charity shop recently. Haven't heard the album tracks above.

So on that tangent, 'What do you want from me' isn't at all bad is it? A great bass line and a nice chorus and sha-la-la-ing in search of the rest of the song, I think. If only it had, say, some drum programming by Stephen, and some idiosyncratic verse lyrics by, oh, say, Barny?

I've got a feeling is really good, if only it didn't sound like 'What do you want from me' part II. Think i'll go for 'Marine'

Strange album. It's easy to pick it apart but yet I still love it. What? You want me to pick it apart? Okay, here I go.

I've Got a Feeling is my favourite. It's probably Monaco's fav. also because Hooky reused the bass riff in A Life Apart and Pottsy starts off Kashmere with IGAF's "Ooh, ooh, oohs". That said, those are my other two picks from the album! Berts Theme is Pottsy pretending he's in Saint Etienne...but then I like Saint Etienne. Ballroom is practically a rewrite of The Cure's Catch. Yep, I like Catch by the Cure. Do you see where I'm going here? See-Saw is Sweet Lips part two, a disco stomper that really doesn't suit Hooky's vocal "style". (You remember Sweet Lips. It's the one that rehashes the bass riff from Vicious Circle.) Of course I still forked over the money for the double 12". Black Rain's the one that (musically) sounds like What Do You Want From Me? part two, or should that be Guilty Partner part three? Yes indeed, I like all three parts! It's a Boy and End of the World could re-ignite the debate over the (over)use of backing vocalists but are both solid songs. Finally, Marine really doesn't fit in with the rest of the album and takes far too long to get going, but when it does kick in it is sublime.

In summary, while New Order tunes often have a certain something that I love but can't describe, I love Monaco despite the things I can see all too clearly.

Call me cheesy, but I like 'Ballroom' quite a bit. It's my favorite off the album and it has a nice 70's vibe to it. 'See-Saw' is pretty good to, but it reminds me alot of the Pet Shop Boys 'New York City Boy'.

Black Rain, although I don't like really like this album. The most irritable song JD / NO / Revenge / Monaco / TO2 / Electronic song ever is See Saw. I really HATE it. It's ridiculous, the music is horrible, disco - shit; and the lyrics are worthy of being in a Backstreet Boys album (sorry, Hook - this kind of song does not suit you)

The problem with I've Got A Feeling is that every time I listen to this song, I'm thinking about dogs and Dr Hook...
