If New Order were still doing the "no single on the album" thing.. Get Ready would have been without Crystal and 60 Miles An Hour, which would have been released with Player in The League and Such A Good Thing...
The album would have included Behind Closed Doors and Sabotage.
Would it be better?
Crystal is a masterpiece...better than Regret i think. But then again, Blue Monday was not released on PCL.
Crystal and 60MPH are not the problems with Get Ready...now Get Ready without Slow Jam...now that's as close to perfect as any band can get. Throw in the B Sides and you have the best Neworder album EVER. I can live with Rock the Shack now but I will never, EVER get over my hate for Slow Jam...i cannot believe neworder put that piece of shit on one of their albums...
Ok to answer your specific question...NO, it would not have been better with those songs in place of Crystal and 60mph. (although i would have happily paid for Crystal and the mixes seperately)
I love Player in the League, Sabotage and Behind Closed Doors (though BCD rarely gets played)...those 3 are better suited for Get Ready than Slow Jam, Rock the Shack and Run Wild. My perfect playlist for Get Ready would include:
Crystal 60MaH Someone Like You Close Range Primitive Notion Vicious Streak Player ITL Sabotage Behind Closed Doors Brutal ------- i could listen to these songs straight through without skipping a single one...
Turn My Way, Slow Jam, Rock the Shack and Run Wild would have been better as B-sides or even stand alone singles in the case of Turn My Way...NewOrder feat. Billy Corgan would have done better in the charts (as Spotty likes to remind us!)

What I meant was that PCL was the last album of which you could say "no single on album": Low Life had two singles, Brotherhood had one.
And well, if Blue Monday is the most selling 12" of all time, it's because of that.
A lot of people would have loved PC&L if it would have been on it.... like the US version.
Altough I like the album the way it is, what I mean is, it would have helped album sales..

"Brutal" is a gem! i don't know why most of the NOOL'ers don't like this track, i think it's brilliant and after watching the performance on the Finsbury-Park-DVD i must say, that this song is absolutely underrated! it would have fitted perfectly on Get Ready, maybe then re-produced by Steve Osbourne 
Hum.... if you want to rebuild Get Ready, I suggest to start with Here To Stay (single version) followed by Crystal (single version), believe me, those are perfect together.. then 60MAH and Brutal, it's seriously the way it should have been!!...

It took me a full night to slect the mixes and put them in the right order. Now, I'm not saying that this is the best album. I think that an 8 track version of GR including some of the B sides and Brutal could have been much better than the released album.
to make the album perfect in my world i would exclude rock the shack and run wild and put brutal and here to stay in their place. i'm not such a big fan of vicious streak, but i'll let it stay just this once.
but you would have to keep crystal and 60 mph, two of the album's best songs!
