Yes, next year. Canada is the same as ours, Dan. Mid-January I think.

That is, according to my Rhino sales rep., after repeatedly asking him "you sure it's not Finsbury Park, right?"

I got tired of waiting for US/Canadian-compatible DVDs and bought an all-region player. The prices aren't bad (mine was $250 inc shipping) and now the US companies can't control what I buy.

Very good news then, but as a little voice is always saying round the back of my head "I'll believe it when I see it". I did find out that the DVD player on my computer has a setting where one can change the regional codes to play the different formats, but one can change it about 6 times before the final choice becomes permanent.

I got mine from http://www.neworleansx.com/.

I have the Sampo DVE-611 but there are more recent ones out there.

:D:D:D:D:D anita, region free...

This is the kind of website I wouldn't order anything from...

Looks very suspicious :skeptic:

My Apex DVD player is doing strange noises.. I sure hope it will not broke, I have the Apex loop holes menu, so I can remove regional coding AND Macrovision, hence I can put DVDs to tape...!

I had no problems with the company. The player arrived w/i a few days, and it works great. I recommended it to several guys at work and they were happy, too. BUT....I used a credit card, of course.

Try www.laserexchange.com. They usually have a great selection of all code players.

I also have the Sampo DVE-611. Its freezes every now and then, but other than that its been a decent purchase. I understand that Sampo's newer all-region players are much better.

FYI - I've been advised by several people to stay away from Apex players.

Woohoo! Getting these two DVD's in the US will nearly make my video collection complete. Now, on to transforming "Here Are The Young Men" onto DVD... who over on the other side of the pond can start making this happen for us?

There's GOT to be more live footage of JD out there than just what's on HATYM, but I suppose if that's the only thing they digitized I would live with it. I realize it would be too ambitious to ask for a NO Story DVD in Region 1, but stranger things have happened......

Well, I bought it when it was the ONLY DVD player playing mp3 files... :D

It works great... but it was the first one.

Problem is, I don't know if I will be able to repair it when it will break, and I sure don't want to lose the regional and macrovision bypass...

And BTW, I have a bad feeling about this "316" release in the US...

I don't think it's going to happen...!

Not listed anywhere, not publicity... and even David Sultan who spoke to Rhino today to get his "DVD Bonus for International" news is not aware of it...

:skeptic:

I have the same feeling, and I'm the one who heard it from my Rhino sales rep! I wouldn't say this is anywhere near etched in stone, seeing that I talked to him a few months ago and he didn't know Retro was being released. I'm going to call him tomorrow and see if I can't get some kind of fax sent, or maybe a catalog they might have of upcoming releases for the new year. When I get something valid, like a UPC or something, I'll post it.

And try to ask him where we should reserve International to make sure we have the DVD ;)
