I just noticed that on my Electrical Storm CD Single (#2), the version of Where The Streets Have No Name...
Bono goes.. "I wanna DANCE DANCE DANCE TO THE rain"...
Clearly he's trying to do Transmission in his singing.. very evident...

And he's not the only one!!
Back in (I think it was)1986/1987 I actually hung around on tour with the Thompson Twins and OMD through the Southwest US (My girlfriend at the time was the US head of the Thompson Twins fan club). I annoyed the heck out of her by playing NO and JD most of the time in the car (there was no way I was going to be listening to the TT's)
Anyway, during one of the sound checks before the show (San Bernardino I think) The singer from OMD (the same guy that plays the bass with the curly hair not the drippy keyboard player) started playing Transmission on his bass!
As I dropped the book I was reading and stared ahead he starts singing "Dance Dance Dance to the radio". Needless to say I pumped him for a few stories about NO and he talked a lot about Hooky and by the end I got a new found appreciation for OMD beyond just "Enola Gay"...
I asked him to play if during the concert and he said that he didn't think the fans would get it...
