I sure hope I didn't forget one.. I've included all JD/NO sleeves, so mostly Peter Saville's work...

Mine? Technique, no competition... ;)

I voted for republic, its a great concept and all the different blended photo's are amazing. Especially the lake and the waves...

I opted for Brotherhood, which only just won out over Unknown Pleasures. I can't really explain why, I just really like the metallic look of it. Both the above are far more striking on vinyl than on CD, IMO. CTB :bear:

Hard one. I had to decide between "Closer" and "Technique", then I picked the former.

It was a tough call between UP and PCL, but in the end I went with PCL. It's just unique and catching.

Well, since the title of the poll thread is NO cover, of the choices listed I'll go with PC&L, though the cover of the FACTUS8 ep is my personal fave.

Of the JD stuff, Unknown Pleasures is my choice.

i've always loved Unknown Pleasures (well, it was my first JD/NO buy) ... the design is so intriging, with the paper texture and the the small size of the "graph" Power Corruption and Lies always fascinated me too, its beautiful and enigmatic, but also the music (sort of Kraftwerkian), the album title (sort of punk), and the picture (sort of classical) seem to be so unrelated, so contrasting... and then the odd color code wheel...so cool

but then i like all the album covers really... except for Get Ready and its singles... seems so staged and visually less unique. the Round & Round single too... i just find that guys head to be ugly... don't know why

Closer for me. It's the perfect cover for the content.

JD...closer NO...PCL, although Retro, something just makes that kinda cool looking, and I can't figure it out...

PCL, although it does not work as well on a CD as it did on vinyl. Gorgeous!

You forgot JD's Preston and Les Bains Douches CD's! Oh, and Salvation is not a NO record, is it? Having said that, my vote goes to Republic...

i'm sorry, but it was "international". i just love the simplicity of that drawing. certainly stands out from the rest.

Yes, but I had to limit it to 20, I pushed with 21 because I can ;)

Salvation might now be really a NO sleeve, but it's a Saville sleeve and majority of songs are new New Order songs.. so it counts

Technique for me. Closely followed by Republic.

This is a tough one - Closer, Technique, and PC&L all close. Also JD's Substance is cool.

My vote went to Unknown Pleasures. That cover had me mesmerized. I would stare at it while listenning to the album (you're guess is as good as mine)

Unknown Pleasures. When I'm old enough I will get it tattooed on my back.

The artwork for "Republic"´s the definitive Saville´s graphic design masterpiece. It was originaly conceived for The Other Two & You album, and later applied to "Republic".

The :regret: concept is something.

I liked the sleeve for Low-Life. Really cool. Although, the artwork for the casette of NO's "Substance" came off to me as mysterious and somehow beautiful. And of course, the music proved to be that way, too.

unknown pleasures. It's so cold and mechanical, and its wrapped around such warm emotion. Beautifully done, both visually, and conceptually.

Unknown Pleasures. I was thunderstruck by that design before I had any idea what it represented (musically). I first saw it on guy's t-shirt when I was attending my older sister's cross-country running competition when I was 11 or 12 or something. I guessed it must be a band, but didn't see the name and was totally mystified: what sort of band would use that design and what is that a picture of? It looked like a place where you could get lost.

A few years later I discovered Joy Division and lo and behold, there was that design! Deja vu.

It's not only my favorite of their designs, it may be my favorite record cover altogether. The texture is great, too.

Closer. Due to its iconic imaginary, state of the artwork, beautiful typography and last but not least textured paper it was pressed on.

Close call between Unknown Pleasures which is stunning in it's simplicity, and PC&L where Saville came up with an inspired blend of the traditional/classic with the modern/computer age. I'll go for PC&L.

I reckon the simplicity and class in the (best of) and (rest of) albums was stunning: the perfect textures of a removed, dance/pop band. I went for the (rest of) 'cause I like red more than blue.

The “Unknown Pleasures” sleeve's texture is so unique ! This is my favourite. But I don’t remember what the white lines stand for. Could anyone refresh my memory ?

It´s a graph of the radio waves emanating from a imploding star, which barney discovered in a science book.

Technique (era)!

Technique gets my vote; it's so colourful and mad-looking. It's the kind of sleeve that makes you stop and think "What's this?" I bet loads of NO fans were created that way; they bought the album because the sleeve looked interesting and it all developed from there.
