I had to cut out a few years because of only having 20 spaces for a 23 year old band, so I left out 1980, 1997, and 1999.
For me, it would have to be 1982 - the 81-82 EP is the first NO stuff I heard and it made me fall in love with them. Every track is a masterpiece, no weak moment in it.

the best way to do this would be seperate the years into about 5 different catagories...
the best recorded and live era from NewOrder is 84/85...they were at their peak then in my opinion...sure the 81-82 ep is great, plus some great songs on PCL but they really hit their stride with Thieves/Lonesome (84) and Low-Life (85) and the tour that followed...i am basing this on recordings unfortunately but i would kill to be present at the Austin 85 show...

What can I say, I am the product of a flawed world.
It's a tough call between '83 (Blue Monday and PCL), '85 (Low-life) and '87 (True Faith), so.............I'll get back to you on this one!
1984...they wrote most of LowLife during this time, and made some really really good instrumentals (Let's Go, Elegia)

Yep..same for me...1st time I heard NO (TPK), first record bought (yes as in the 1st ever including all bands) TPK and 1st NO concert (Henry J Kaiser)....
I still relate better to Low Life than any other album...guess it was imprinted on me :)
Hard for me to be objective about this poll obviously.
1986 - the introduction of the Brotherhood songs to the live set, the birth of BLT, everyone's favourite Anal Rust, the most UK gigs in a single year since 1984 and a major US tour.....
They are still alive. Does not anyone think that their best year is still to come?
