I listened to HTS about a dozen times today and I just wanted to say it's one of my all time favorite NO songs.

weird...i was just listening to it about 10 minutes ago myself and i have to agree with you, anita.
new order + chemical brothers = magic
Agreed
By the way, does anyone know when "24 Hour Party People" get released on Region 1 DVD in the US?
Thanks much
Gotta get my bank account back up first (and I'm already getting 5 11 around then, so I gotta pace myself)
Indeed it's a good song, but I'm still puzzled how this song managed to get unoticed the way it was...
No release outside UK (not sure there.. is it?) at least not in North America, but that song had "pop hit" written all over it.
I just don't get labels... how come Reprise Records dropped New Order to RHINO and even if Crystal went to the #1 on Billboard's dance chart, they didn't release ANYTHING else..

i think these are statements only a higher authority can answer

It was released in Australia but didn't get as much air play as Crystal or 60mph. 60mph has done well in Australia getting regular air play on some stations and even charting.
I think it's an awesome track and is just as great as Crystal. One thing that bothers me is that all the fans loved it, but every music critic review I read bashed it. They kept saying how it was over produced and predictable... Isn't that what makes pop music great?
I thought it was a nice touch that the opening is so reminiscent of the intro to the single version of Transmission. A cool way of bringing things full circle (what with a retrospective film and all that).
It's by no means a bad song. But it's only really a mid-tabler in the grand New Order singles scheme of things. Not the equal of Crystal.

All fans loved it...
Then why not ask the Chemical Brothers to produce the full upcoming album? ![]()
I rate this as high as Crystal
Woulda loved to have heard this at the gigs during the summer, but it wasn't to be.....maybe on the tour next year:D
It's a top notch track, to be sure. I'm surprised it wasn't released here, I imagine it would have done well, at least in terms of exposure via MTV2 or (gag) MTV. We do won't the Order to be able to retire with plenty in the bank, right?
All in all, I suppose New Order should seriously look into undoing themselves from London Records. I'm surprised they've taken this much inattention and mismanagement...
Maybe NO should try Sanctuary. They signed PSB and actually promoted the Release album with appearances on Craig Kilborn (he's a HUGE fan, btw) and Saturday Today. It wasn't much but more than Sire and EMI did.
It's just obscene that a band as cool as NewOrder isn't known in the states.
:D:D:D:D:D anita, going back to listening to HTS AGAIN!
Yeah, when HTS was supposed to come out in the US, I hit the record stores right away. All of them told me the same thing: they were supposed to have received the shipment of them, but never got it. I had to buy it from Amazon...
It IS a great song. Very interesting how The Chemical Brothers and NO can meld their styles together, considering the musical backgrounds/genres they come from. I never got into Chemical Brothers, for the exception of "Out of Control" and their collaboration with NO on HTS. Interesting, as both tracks had involvement from NO....
